Wow!!!!! I have to admit that I have never big on gold, but the blend that hardware has with the top in nothing short of spectacular. If that was mine???? It would be the 1st LP custom that I would never change a thing on. Congrats!

Bottom line is Gibson was raided, sued by DOJ and settled. Coupled with these events, Gibson announced a shift towards the use of Richlite - A man made paper based phenolic resin/cellulose compound.

Many people (myself included) see this as Gibson taking the easy/cheap road; just avoid certain woods and the potential headaches associated with importing them yet charge the same price.

The fact that other builders both large and small continue to offer Ebony and even more exotic woods seems to support the assertion that Gibson could easily have shored up any importing issues and still offered "the real deal".
