I drove down to San Marino today (San Marino is a small country in Italy, near Rimini) to pick up an used Gibson Historic ´57 Reissue LP. Although it was a long drive, it was certainly worth it, cose this guitar rocks! It sounds more open than my Standard and has a bit more sustain (my Standard already has tons of it). The neck is really huge, even compared to my Standard´s 50s neck, but it´s very comfortable to play. So far I am really diggin this guitar, I just can´t wait for band rehearsals tommorow to play it loud through my amps! Here are a few pics (these are from the seller, I´ll take a few pictures when I´ll have more time...).

It´s more resonant and open sounding guitar, it has more mids (although that might be becouse od different pickups). It feels more solid, better made, but the Standard isn´t worse guitar, just different. I´ll probably put Bare Knuckle pickups in both guitars, not sure which ones, maybe Mules...

I bought a VOS 'R7 a little over a year ago...it shelved most of my other guitars. The action is stupid low and it sustains for days. I love the grunt this thing has.

Nice!!! I love Gold tops. I will get another someday.

very nice guitar man  i'm a huge fan of the guitars being put out on the guitars historic line. i absolutely love my R8 darkburst. i had never been a fan of huge necks until i played a historic. those reissue 50's necks just feel awesome, like you're really playing a friggin guitar  enjoy the sweet guitar.

Congrats on the new R7,

I`m down to just 1 guitar now, this ones a Custom Authentic `57RI, i`ve loaded Wolfetone Marshallheads and a RS wiring kit in there, just love the tone this thing produces.
