I remember back in the '80s walking into Guitar Center in the Strip and there would be all these killer Jackson USA Soloist guitars hanging way above the floor. They were pretty much unattainable for me at the time since I was broke and it was tough even to get to play them because the sales guys at GC wouldn't want to get the ladder and take them down unless you were gonna buy... I always wanted a neck-thru Soloist with a Floyd and used to drool over the cool ones at GC... When I eventually got to play one, I liked everything except the painted necks... I always wanted a nice neck through Soloist with an unfinished neck, but focused on Charvels and other bolt-ons that were cheaper and easier to find that way...

Anyway... fast forward to now. I've been looking for a cool neck-thru Soloist for awhile and I just snagged this one. Flame maple top with white transparent ghost flames... and an unpainted, oil finished maple neck! Had to go for it and got a great deal by making an offer. Should have it in a week or so. My one plan is to change the pickup rings to white ones - not diggin' the chrome... anyway... I finally nabbed a cool shredder Custom Shop Soloist:

Hey, if you can afford the Yellow Ibby J-Custom, you can afford this!

BTW - I worked on "Stand Up and Shout" last night...

Great find! I love the way the neck on the Soloist's feel, used to have a SL-1 and my only complaint was the finished neck. Loved the way it felt but hated the stickyness
