Picked this up off Reverb after I got a really good offer. Sounds massive but still with a Marshally bite. I had one in white maybe 12 years ago, sold it. Glad to have one back.

KT88’s and also has a Variac mod

Stick a Gup Tech Quebec in the loop. Set the treble on zero and use the presence as your treble control and you will be amazed. Killer amp that often flies under the radar because they can be difficult to dial in. Happy NAD.

Nice score.

Looks fantastic in white. I’ve got a single channel version, I just might call them & see if they’ll make me a white headshell for it.

Nitro is a great amp. Buddy has one. I owned a Comp for a while and it was great too. Congrats!

I’ll definitely try that with the treble and presence.

i want to try a Splawn, just one of those amps i never came across in the wild

That is super sexy @stratjacket Congrats

Hell of a collection too

Tell me more about this built in variac mod.

For sure. Never played a Nitro and I don't know waht this Gup Tech thing does but Splawns love Treble on Zero which is so counter intuitive with the amount of bass the Splawns have. I run a volume box and 10b EQ in the loop, Bass on like 10 oclock. SD1 is super sexy. But you know this.

Enjoy!

@311boogieman The seller said it is a Kruse Variac he had installed. This was his picture of it. I haven’t messed with it yet, I just set it to 100W.

HNAD! I’ve had a Splawn Nitro for like 12-13 years. I’ve been GASing hard for a Diezel Big Max and am curious what your thoughts are on how the Nitro compares/contrasts with it. Aside from like 4 YouTube videos, there really is nothing out there on the Big Max. The idea of the kerrang and bark of a Marshall combined with the modern grind of a Diezel is intriguing.

The Gup Tec is a game changer. Is essentially a resonance and presence control that you put in the loop.

I haven’t been able to play the Nitro much since I got it, but this week I will try to flip back and forth between them and turn some knob’s, then check back in.

My initial thoughts are the Nitro is more Marshall bite than the Big Max. But will spend some time on it, good question.
