Paul prays for Onesiphoros in 2 Timothy 16-18. If you consider that we are all members of the body in Christ, and alive in him, then you really aren't praying for dead people, are you? It's an act of love my friend.

Serious question.
What does the Bible say about praying for the dead? | GotQuestions.org

Re: the verse you quoted there is debate about whether he was actually dead or not. It's not a sin to pray for the dead it's just useless and goes against what the Bible says happens after we die.

S

She’s a nice lady

Not to looney toons who prefer to manipulate and twist words as if they're a teenage drama queen vs admitting they're mistaken. At some point enough is enough. I'm not here to hold the hand of an adult man like he's a fucking child.

lol so stop following me around.

When’s the last time I said anything to you that wasn’t a response?

Good reply but I think the author of that link is somewhat short sighted.

From your link:
"Jesus plainly used this story to teach that after death the unrighteous are eternally separated from God, that they remember their rejection of the gospel, that they are in torment, and that their condition cannot be remedied"

So who is righteous? Who is unrighteous? Do you get to determine that? No. The bible says we have all fallen short of the glory of God. Say for example you know some fellow Aussie who you think is a lecherous, vile, sinful, rotten man. He dies. You say to yourself "dirtbags like that are in hell so no use in praying for him". Yet you do not know whether he may or may not have repented in tears on his deathbed, or in his final hours or moments, do you? Have you placed yourself on Christ's judgement throne and declared him damned? Perhaps through that, repentance he joined the body of Christ in which case he would be alive in Christ, not dead to Christ, and your prayers are then not for the dead, but for the living. So, prayer for the dead is an act of love.

but you think the moon landing was fake, so your idea of bullshit is questionable to me
I've argued my points, you just disagree. Fine. What I'm talking about is when you go on for pages denying then trying to squirrel out of admitting that the missions are taxpayer funded for example.

no not really man. i literally posted the percentage of tax dollars that goes to nasa. from that percentage a small portion is going to the CLPS program. Of that small percentage, an even smaller percentage went to Intuitive Machines. Intuitive machines built the lander. NASA paid them to bring equipment to the moon, just as other people paid to have things brought to the moon too. you can read it into it however you want, but those are all facts

No - you completely misunderstand. We don't determine who is righteous. God does based on what we do on Earth - that is his judgement. Righteousness is imputed to us through Christ's death for those who believe in him. If it wasn't for that God could not look upon us because of our sin.

I would encourage you to read the below. It explains it with references to the Bible.

Why does Christ’s righteousness need to be imputed to us? | GotQuestions.org

The reason why it is useless to pray for people after they have died is that their judgement is in God's hands. We can't change what they have done in life at that point. That's what God is judging them on. God will not see their sin for the purpose of judgement if it has been atoned for by Christ ie. they believed in Jesus and repented iduring life.

One thing I learned in orthodoxy is that we aren't supposed to insult others because every single person is created in the image of Christ, therefore when you cast your gaze upon them, you are actually seeing Christ. Think of the biggest, most lecherous dirtball you've ever known and dwell on that. It's a hard teaching to implement. But that is how Robert Rule was able to forgive serial killer Gary Ridgeway for murdering his daughter. Even Ridgeway, somewhere in his corrupted being, carries that image of Christ.
See, even if I believed what the Bible says this would be a serious divergence for me. It would take a hell of a lot less than murdering someone I love for me to kill a deserving person and sleep like a baby afterwards.

Besides, human beings are generally pretty fucked up. If that’s the image of Christ you guys pick some strange shit to worship and adore.

And don’t take this as me knocking Christianity. I generally stand up for it. My family and most of my friends are Christian. I think they’re misguided but I don’t see any harm in it. Besides, it’s not like I have any answers. I could be wrong. It’s happened before.

Yes and no. Sure, no harm so long as they don't have political power, and the same goes for any group really. But it's a more nuanced discussion at the personal level, the family level and so on. I recognize organized religion can be beneficial in many ways as well.

True enough. However I don’t see where Christians are holding power and forcing their shit on people. At least not in this country.

But the reason humans are "fucked up" is sin. We are all sinful. The only thing that makes us acceptable to God is Jesus died and took the sin away (in God's eyes when we die - not on Earth) from those who believe and follow him. Being a Christian doesn't mean you are somehow magically good or holy... far from it. That's why you could say any number of Christians are hypocrites. However they are at least working on it and it's actually God that changes and improves them over time not the person. They never become perfect though. They will always be hopeless sinners and completely flawed.

Holy fucking shit child, are you serious? Was that comment in response to you, gaslighter? Just more fantasy childish bullshit from a childish asshole. Poor little Dan can't grasp the concept of reality, so continues with the psychotic make pretend.

See, here's a great example: I said, "trying to squirrel out of admitting that the missions are taxpayer funded" and you're talking about the relative size of NASA's budget, the relative size of CLPS to NASA's overall budget, that Intuitive built their own lander and so on.
