I used to do sound for a friend’s church for a while until I taught someone within the church what was what. I kinda miss it some days.
The church I actually went to just had a small choir but the most bad ass pipe organ I’ve ever seen. One of those once they build the church around. It was killer.
my first time ever playing in front of people was green sleeves at midnight mass though lol
I like organs especially at Church... A lot of places where the piano and organ were like the mainstay have been shipped out for modern worship music which I really don't like. It's just so insipid... I think that's the best word for it. The old hymns were often good music imo. Good melodies and harmonies. A lot of modern church worship music to my ear is really "white" and sort of like mindless but emotive anthems... they leave me very cold. Worship music is probably my least favourite part of church I often cringe at a lot of it.

You could post all that twice. 100%

The old time gospel is just more legitimate and soulful sounding. I still love it but for actual an actual liturgical service this kind of stuff takes the cake for me:

SWEET! For some reason I was thinking it was a Randy Rhoads clip.
Oh, this old thing ?

Yes beautiful.

See if you like this. One of my favourite guitarists and persons played this.

Yeah very nice. Is he Aussie?

Here's an old time gospel number, a favorite, I'll share a couple of my favorite versions you can check out.

Check out the background on Johnnie Wilder jr. sad, but inspiring too. Lemme know which one of these versions you prefer if you are inclined. I'd like to hear your opinion there.

No Rob is from Michigan.

They are both good. I like the style of accompanying acapella in the second one more... They both have great voices in their own way. Maybe the accompaniment obscures the melody a little more in the first version.

There are things about the rhythm that sort of throws me in version 1. Call me unsophisticated. Although in terms of interest I don't mind that. At least it's not boring right...

I listened to this and listened to the original...

The mix and sound is very good. The playing is good too. I can hear some areas where I'd say the timing isn't as tight as the original... not saying it's way off or bad in any way. What I'm talking about is really subtle and I'd criticise my own stuff the same way.

I'm curious. Do you record over the original by beat mapping it and then delete the original or do you zero base your tracks using a click track?

I wouldn't call you unsophisticated. That is some pretty heavyweight syncopation happening. No one is just going to up and grab hold of that without some serious effort. I see it kind of like his fingerprint. Definitely some class in session stuff for me too. I can't say 100% certain but I think all of that track is CL White. Pretty killer.

I can see how you'd also like the Johnnie Wilder jr version better. It's also great. This is why I asked because I have a hard time pulling myself away from either of those versions to jump to the other one. He was the lead singer of Heatwave and at the height of success he was hit by a dump truck and paralyzed from the neck down. He became a Christian so maybe it was for God's glory. Pretty impressive performance, it is all done by him, by a parapalegic. Here is a Heatwave classic. The keyboardist is Rob Templeton, who went on to write a bunch of Michael Jackson hits, among many others.

My opinion might change with more familiarity. If things are too mainstream I will tire of them quicker.

Heart check on aisle 20 please......

Why did I sound heartless? I didn't mean to be - I thought it was very good. I figured he wanted honest critiques and for people to try and find anything wrong. Or do you mean my heart must be beating irregularly so I'm not hearing properly? It's hard to get an honest opinion and personally I'd prefer because otherwise people are just being nice and you don't get a second pair of ears to help with things.

Oh I thought you meant where’s the clips of me playing lol
My bad . I missed this lol

Naw, the trolls in here who never post a clip, but always throw shade on my clips.

:ROFLMAO:
Shit my clips suck lol . That’s why I rarely share . Everyone kept asking me for clips of HR and i haven’t because lately my clips do suck in my new room lol

I've said it before.. my clips suck, but I'm having fun and I hope that comes through in my clips.

They don't suck at all and that's the honest truth. I only notice very small things that I would assume you'd like the opinion on. We are talking about tiny stuff that maybe a pro studio would correct when they mix it. Not massive problems that sound like an amateur or something.

One thing I've learnt with age is truthful opinions are hard to find and I value them over people pissing in my pocket, not listening properly, or lying to me to make me happy so to speak.
