Congrats on the new guitar, its awesome!!

Heres another dime for the thread. The previous owner switched the pu rings and knobs on it.
This one was always my favorite dime guitar.

Dude I love that one so fuckin much. Excuse the pun but it's so damn metal.

Yeah, the diamond plate is awesome. I saw one on eBay earlier this year but I don't remember if it sold.

Mine weighs 9.2 pounds.

I didnt even consider the chinese ones because every chibese guitar Ive played totally sucked and needed hours of work to get it to play reasonably well. I was thinking Washburn Dimebolt vs. Dean DFH both Korean made. I cant justify the cost of a USA unless I got an unheard of deal.

Also GregM, can you weigh the Washburn, to get an idea on weight differences?

I got 7.2lbs for the Stelth, and 8.0lbs for the 79' I Knew the 79' felt a bit heavier.

Well the DFH imports are actually all made in china. Even the newest ones. Check the back of the headstocks. But yes, their best imports like the 79's are made in korea, as are the import Caddys. Some of the lowend stuff is made in Indonesia. Comparing the newer Korean Deans i'd say they are on par with the best import Washburns. There were also several different versions of the import Washburns. A few limited editions made by Funky Munky and Boogie Street after Darrell's passing were actually built to Dime 3 specs.

I was under the impression the earlier DFH with only the serial # on the back of the headstock were also Korean?

I'd love to have a US version but can't justify the cost until either the kids or the mortgage are paid off.

"Until the kids are paid off"....

That is fucking funny.

I see you have it plugged into an Orange Rockerverb 100. How does that sound?

The usa southern cross on ebay is close to five grand, ending in less than an hour.

Id love to get my hands on one but damn, cant justify that much

Chris

Hadn't checked it today, I knew it was gonna go up but damn.

The Dime USA washburn models will luckily always be collectible. They were great guitars and all limited productions. There are some rare finishes that were only made for Darrell and less than 10 actually produced. Some probably only 2 or 3, like the blood bolt and slime snake finishes. I'm glad just to have an original Slime.

Not just a Rockerverb, that's your Rockerverb. ;)

I only had about ten minutes or so with the Rockerverb and Friedman JJ each and I didn't play with any settings but I actually liked the Rockerverb a little better. It's a little looser and a little more forgiving than the Friedman. I'll have more time to mess around with it this weekend.

Those would go great in my 79'! Congrats, these are in my stealth, bad ass pickups.

Got 'em in and tested at low volume. I'll have to wait until morning when everybody is awake for the real test.

Found me a Washburn Dime too!

Look at the difference from the 79'

Look at the similarity to the stealth

Overall I have to say the newer deans quality is far superior. I'll Doctor up the washy as much as possible, but at this point, somewhat disappointed

I haven't played the Deans or Stealth to compare it to but I really like mine, sucks you're disappointed in it. Let me know if you decide to sell it at some point.

I think the trem needs tlc, or to be replaced. Maybe thats why yours has a Floyd. The wasburn version doesnt hold tune very well and may even need intonation.

Remember that was built back when they made a lot of really cheap licensed Floyd's. Newer guitars have much better trems since the Floyd patent ran out

I may pull this one apart and see if I can get it right, otherwise I may just replace it, either that or my strings havent settled yet, doesnt typically take this long, maybe i got some old strings or something. GHS Boomers usually settle down pretty quick.

Is it a Floyd licensed Washburn made in Germany? I have that on my series one cross and it is great quality.

Chris

My Floyd is new and I think it was professionally installed. The seller mentioned having $300 in that alone not long before deciding to sell it. I didn't ask him what was in it before or why it was replaced, he may have been having problems with the original. I haven't checked intonation but action is good and no problems with tuning, seems to be well done. I hope you get yours worked out.
