I used the decimator 2 this past weekend with no other pedals in the chain. Just the amp and guitar and there was a difference.
It was very minute and most people, especially non musicians wouldn't notice it but I did.
I didn't spend too much time with it. I set the threshold just where I needed to so the pedal did its job but didn't overdo it. Just enough.
And yeah, was playing and clicking the pedal on and off. There was a slight difference in the sound. Was so small and probably worth the sacrifice but in my application, maybe not yours.

I agree it's not perfect but if you're not happy with the ISP Decimator II, you won't find anything better on the market today!
