The SED =C= (pre or post logo... even back when they were just plain old Svets lol) are really good sounding. Nothing to f-wit. And they sound great in a bunch of different amps too. Those and the old C8 6N4 double wafer square getter preamp tubes really sound good. About as good as it gets for me.
Just the other day I was going thru my 'gig survival kit' (unused for a while lol) and found a Groove Tubes sleeve with 2 matched Winged C 6L6s I didn't even know I had. The bases are not very discolored at all so that usually means they are relatively fresh. IIRC, those brown bases discolor fairly quickly.

Necro Fack! My IIC+ started making intermittent 'rustling leaves' noises and it would be affected by smacking the side of the amp. I swapped the Sylvanias for the SEDs mentioned above and no noise (and no pop when switching standby). I suppose it is possible that the pins of the Sylvanias are just a bit too small for the wallered out sockets so I should probably try retensioning but damn I've been having bad luck with these old Sylvanias lately.

Oh yeah, BTW, I at first tried a pair of JJ 6L6C and they sounded horrible. I was surprised how bad. Boomy fizz. The SEDs are worlds better.

Try the TAD 6L6GC. They are very good sounding new production tubes that sound as good as the Winged C in the C+ that I had, but not quite as 3D as the Sylvanias.
