Not liking Uberschall clips..or is it just the players?

Keith (Dimebag11) had an awesome Uber clip from a couple of years ago. Almost convinced me to buy one.

i ended up buying a Uberschall Rev2. While I do love it, the amp just isn't versatile enough for me and I can't connect with it. Great amp though which oozes tone. Surprising for such a high gain amp.

I really wasn't able to find any good Uberschall clips, so I took a plunge and just got one. It's really sensitive to speaker type; you've got to have nice speakers or the bass will flub out too much. As everybody says, it really comes down to whether it's your thing or not. It's got this weird low-mid voicing that I happen to love, and IMO it's probably one of the most aggressive amps out there.

+1

My only real regret in the amps that have come and gone is the fact I unloaded my brand new Uber TJ and UberKab due to infrequency of use. Bloody dead mint, and I just unloaded them like no big deal. One of the wickedest sounding amps in the world - period.

V. :aww:
I was going to unload mine awhile back. I first swapped it to EL34 and then GL 77's. That brought me to my senses. The Shiva 20th will go first. Maybe

Here you go sir. :) Good luck dealing with the GAS after this one.

Always liked this clip too. Sounds just evil, like a recto being pushed into almost meltdown.

This clips sound frickin' incredible. I'd never have enough patience to record and master something that sounds that good. Amazing tone and playing.

Just to stir the pot. Doesn't the axe-fx have an Uber model? :boxer: Everytime I hear an amp that I like, it seems that fractal has got it covered.

I beg to differ...this one truly captures what it sounds like in the room

The real funny thing is that he could be a very respected forum poster that never posts clips.....................................never know :)

I always chuckled at Ed D's phrase "They can type a good solo on the forums".

I loved my Uber, but it took me a while to bond with it at first. I chalk that up to it being one of the trickiest amps to dial in IMO. I found mine pretty versatile, but it always had this certain aggressiveness to its character that's always present. I could see that being bothersome for someone looking for an amp that excels at versatility.

Maybe I can offer a couple of tips for dialing it in that may help....

The Presence and Mid controls are key. If you like a scooped tone, dial the presence down rather than the mids. Then use the mids & treble to compensate. Also, dialing the presence up to 1:30 and beyond tightens the sound & seems to add a slight amount of gain. It's almost as if the presence acts more like a mid control in many ways.

Of course it depends on what guitar, pickups, speakers, etc, but a good starting point for I found for my Rev.2 was:
bass- 10:30
mids- 2:00
treble-1:30
presence- 2:00
gain- 1:30
volume- 12:00
Master- as loud as you can take it

The above setting is not a scooped tone, but a good solid heavy tone with just enough cut and chunk.

One cool thing to try is to crank the Master to 11-12:00 and use the individual channel volume to bring up the volume. Getting the power section working harder gives it a little more muscular of a sound.

Yes it does, and it does it very well...and I would argue that, IMHO, the best amp model the Axe does is indeed the Uber (it does the Rectos very well also).

I have a Rev 2, and last weekend I was A/B-ing them...it was scary close. I ran straight into the Uber to a Port City OS2x12 with M75s and compared it by running the Axe Uber sim into the power section of the Uber to the same cab. Just insane man. I've been playing the Axe Uber this entire week, waiting for it to lose its sparkle, but it just hasn't. I wish I could say the same for many of the other sims in the Axe! FX are world class, it's uber-reliable (ha ha), and the Bogner modeling is incredible; really all the high gain stuff in this box is top notch...but I'm more or less underwhelmed by, say the Marshall modeling.

Dude, I actually took your advice with an open mind and OH MY GOD!!!! I can't BELIEVE how much the sound changes when you tweak the presence and treat it as a gauge for mids!!!!!!!!!! Man, thank you so much! This amp is now officially competition for my Diezel Einstein. It has such a rich sound now with beautiful articulation and attack.

Reinhold states in the manual the presence is a presence/mids control. The tone gets wicked with higher presence.

Awesome to hear man! Glad I could help

Hi guys, here is a new Bogner Uberschall Twin Jet clip. All guitars are recorded through the Bogner with an old secret weapon "Qzone" pedal in front for a little scoop and high mid bump. Guitar is a Warmoth Custom with Homewrecker "Durden" custom humbucker bridge pickup. Mic was a single Beyerdynamic M160 through a Burl B1 preamp, then kissing a MoHog Mofet76, then a littletop from the A-Designs JM3001 EQ.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for the compliments on the previously posted track (

tried one in a store when they came out and was underwhelmed. I did only spend about 20 minutes with it, but I left still preferring my triple recto. ironically I recall thinking it had a really nice clean though.

I like some of Lasse's clips. He does the KT88s which seems to make the amp sound more metal and grindy I have el34s in my rev 2 and it's more like AIC, more organic and euphoric not as in your face and brutal. I have had a band in for nearly 2 weeks tracking guitars non-stop, kind of like a Soundgarden vibe. Of everything I have they like the Uber, Friedman Marshall and AC30 best. The guitarist tripped out when I cranked my rev 2, holy smokes that fukker is 3D. Love it.

Here's the dudes clips:
