Not just here but a lot of places. Its pretty bad when you have to take such a hit to try to sell something thats worth much more and even then you have a hard time selling it. I have a guitar easily worth 5K in the classifieds...a couple of lowballers and thats it. Just checked Ebay...3 guitars exactly the same...guys asking between $6975 and $7200. You figure you can make a quick sale so you price low already at $4200 and some fuck still tries to knock you down $500 bucks...ok rant over lol....carry on

There's stuff on my local Craigslist that have be up there for like a year. It is pretty bad lately. One thing I've always said is that something is only worth what someone will pay for it.

Yeah it's shocking, around the world it seems!

I have a Diamond heretic up for stupidly cheap at the moment. I do realise there are little of these around and people don't know much about them, and every video online is a terrible representation of the amp, but they are reasonably high end and expensive. Mine is really well priced, and i've dropped it heaps. Not prepared to lose any more money on it, and people just don't want it. But you are right, there's lots like that and it's everywhere. Sad to see really!

Just a market cycle. Just like everything else. It's a buyers market.

Dont agree....Im people and I paid 5K for this guitar a few months ago...played it only for a few hours...its fucking mint!Look everywhere else...its worth this and even more.
The market is slow right now...everyone wants everything for nothing...better off not even wasting your time and money...might as well just keep it

It's a beautiful guitar, BTW...

But, you're right. On one side, you have people on crack asking STUPID prices... And on the other, people expect you to give the fucking shit away. Selling on Reverb pisses me off especially. I have a Mesa Stiletto Deuce listed at $949, excellent condition. Others on there are asking over $1,000, and as much as $1,400, (unrealistic, and stupid, I know).. But, they either lowball you, or "watch" it for a month, waiting for you to get desperate, I guess. People piss me off. Why watch? If you want something, be realistic, and buy the damn thing?? I don't play games. If I want something, I find a reasonable price, and I pull the trigger. No games, I don't play around!

Well, there's probably a few things going on. One is that it might not be worth what you think (in the end, it's worth what folks will pay). Another issue is that expensive stuff really is worth a lot to the right buyers, but finding those buyers in the right mood is hard and takes time; that's a liquidity problem.

The last few of my big buck items I have gotten were in trade.
Lot of great dead out here but for me personally something always comes up house/life wise
That takes that money from me. Ya I could bust out some credit cards but really need to get out of that bad habit.

The problem with "it's worth what folks will pay", is that people push the limits of what they can get away with paying. They want things for nothing. I got an offer of $450 for my Stiletto, are you saying it's only worth $450 because some douche wants it for that?

I recently sold a VH4 for $2000 and I bought it for $2500. Lost 20% on it. I also sold a mini recto for $500, bought it for $750. Also about 20% loss. I feel like if you want to get stuff sold these days you got to give someone a deal and price shit lower then everyone else. Dont price your shit close to what other people do. Unless you want to bump it for 6 months like some shit on here. Lol

Damn, $500 for a mini is a gift! But, you're right. Plan on taking a loss, especially buying new.

I'm saying that to some folks it's worth only that. To others it could be worth more, but you want to find them at a time when they want to buy. Not nearly as many people want a Stiletto as something like a JCM 800, for example, so the Stiletto is "illiquid" in that sense. If you want to sell something illiquid in a hurry, you have to expect a discount. Otherwise, you have to wait for the right buyer.

Yes, the key word here is "some" people. Personally, I'd take the Stiletto over a JCM800 all day. But, when I bought it, I was in the market for it, so I agree. To some after a JCM800, the Mesa would be a plan B. It certainly isn't a hot ticket item, and I'm in no hurry to sell it. Keeping it won't break my heart.

That I fully understand...its life. But like he said...there will always be douchebags trying to lowball you. I had a couple guys interested but stuff came up...like building a new house...and thats ok! But them fucking douchebags and then there are the people that dont even have the intention to buy it but they just yank your cock for the fun of it
I dont think im asking too much...its very reasonable and someone could have a great piece of Gibson history for a good price

Did you list it on The Gear Page?? There's more high rollers there, I sell alot more stuff there, people are a little more reasonable.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but alot of people here, and other forums act like the official authority on what things are worth, and alot of times are tightwads to begin with. I hate people that kick tires, ask you if there's any damage, knicks, dings, when you list it as MINT, LIKE NEW, and alot of times don't even read your ad, just see pictures. Economy, buyers market, yada, yada, is hogwash. The world is just full of tire kickers, and lowballers. I like the ones that lowball you, then say "it's all I can afford". If I can't afford it, I don't waste your time.

Nobody buying I understand.
Jack asses that go round and round with low balling.....
They are always gonna be there. Worst is when you settle on a deal. Only to have the dick head try to
Renegotiate the confirmed deal. At that point I just stop responding.

Im in the opposite situation, i have cash and wanna spend some money but cant find the guitars im looking for at a reasonable price, im not looking to lowball or anything like that, i seen one of the guitars on ebay but the dude seems like his price is a bit too high imo. I see nice deals and people trying to sell stuff for very good prices and not crazy, but no deals on what im looking for.
Stevek had a mx250 for a great price but i missed it the other day.

Esp mx250 black or snow white
Esp jh-2
Gibson vos john sykes lp

Im looking for any of these in mint condition.

Even better yet, they ask you to "hold" it for them! Or, how about the ones that want to do payments? I do Chinese financing.. One lump sum.

I know that feeling too. Good luck on the Sykes. That's kind of a rare find.
