So, what you're saying is this setup will work and none of the output should be muted at all? I should have cabA with all powerball (preamp/poweramp) and cabB with (Engl preamp/recto poweramp + effects)?

if your parallel loop works in this way yes, you'll just have to plug it in and try it to find out.

cool! well, i'm going to give it a shot and find out!

thank you both for all your help with this so far! i really, really appreciate it

so i tried both setups very quickly and got some decent results.

for the first setup i inquired about -- PB dry sound into a 4x12 (V30's & 75's X config) then PB EFX send into chorus pedal (forgot to bring home my delay/verb pedals  ) then recto EFX return into 4x12 (Vader).

sounded good!! i liked what i heard and i can't wait to try it with some verb and delay. I was mostly interested in this configuration for when Mr. Fortin can install an FX loop in my cali modded marshall :D

The second setup -- PB for highs and some upper mids, Recto setup for Lows and lower mids (same cab configs.) -- i wasn't as thrilled with. It didn't sound flubby, but maybe just a tad bit on the fizzy side. I would like to try this again tomorrow, when my ears are fresher   , but this time swapping the cabs...Engl --> Vader 4x12 and Recto --> Marshall 4x12 with 30's and 75's. I don't think the recto sounds particularly good with the Vader; maybe a tad bit dark sounding and a touchy on the boomy side.

Thanks to both of you guys for all your wonderful insight! i love trying new gear configurations with old gear...makes everything feel new again
