Plus in these vids he at least looks like a rock star guitar player too, not like all the fat, hairy, bearded, overly tattooed lumps with short hair (or no hair) that pass as rock guitarists these days.....looks like they just walked in from changing the oil on my car or something.

Honestly at this point in life I really don't give a rats ass what a rocker looks like...they are either cool and can rock or not (it's certainly not determined by what they look like for me, it's not the 80's anymore)

but was listening to Eat Em and Smile the past couple days....
and he has pretty much the whole package.

lol, I could care less what any of you think of my personally or whether or not I am a pompous ass. Like Vai, and Celine Dion, my heart will go on. Different strokes for different folks! I can't wait to lurk in the Rig Talk shadows and hit all of you guys with the "well what have you done lately" when you have launch into a criticism of your own. End of the day, I don't like what he did to Yngwie's material. That's it that's all. The guy can play but I think he relies on effects way too much. lol maybe.. I'm generally a good guy and not a troll thread starter. (despite having been called out by someone in this thread who disappeared when I asked him to point me in the direction of my troll threads) This one got out of hand and reading back my original post, I can understand how it came across to some of you, Vai fans or not. Rather than just deleting the content, I thought I would at the very least just leave it there and take the lashing. I still don't think Vai is as much the guitarist everyone else does but I do like his rythm work with DLR and Whitesnake so I can leave it at that. The smoke and mirrors I think is still there in his performances but that's art, to each their own and I can respect a guy who has managed to sell his brand/image/appeal to millions even if he hasn't sold me on it.
