Now....what was your BEST CONCERT EVER?!?!

My first concert might be the best one for many reasons I guess. I saw KISS in 1978 on the Love Gun tour when I was in 5th grade which is quite a spectacle for a young kid to witness and hard to compare anything to that.
My 2nd favorite show has to be Iron Maiden on the Powerslave tour in 84. Just a ridiculous show and I remember the sound being the best i had ever up til then.

There was a lot of explosion and sparks on the Love Gun tour. ..... and that crazy drum lift.

Yeah it was AWESOME and probably one of the reasons why I love music they way I do today. Got bit hard by the bug.

Simple... Pink Floyd, 1994, Louisiana Super Dome, on my BIRTHDAY!

But since it really is unfair to compare anyone else to a Pink Floyd live show, here are a few other highlights:

Stevie Ray Vaughan - In Step tour, only months before he died. It forever changed the way I thought of the blues!
Iron Maiden & Judas Priest, 1982. Really, Maiden and Priest in their prime on the same bill, what else needs to be said?
Van Halen, 1981 (My first time seeing them. To this day, one of the most kickass, high-energy rock shows I've ever witnessed!)
Rush - Snakes & Arrows tour, last year! (I've seen them 15 times over the years, and they were never better!)
King's X opening for Joe Satriani and Dream Theater. (King's X blew both Joe & DT off the stage, HARD, and even they admitted it when they came out!)
Joe Bonamassa - So, It's Like That tour. I love the addition of the keyboards and Joe's improved vocals, but Kenny Kramme & Eric Czar were his best rhythm section by far, IMO.
Queensryche - Empire (Operation:Mindcrime) tour. These guys were a fucking MACHINE back then, and Geoff was one of the best live metal singers of all time during this era.
Badlands - Voodoo Highway tour, Jacksonville. One of my all-time favorite bands, and my absolute favorite singer ever, they were incredible live.
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell tour. In a skating rink, of all places! Phil told everyone early in the set: "Our stage is your stage, we wanna see every last one of you motherfuckers up here before the night's over!", and by the end of the night, the entire stage was a pit, almost indistinguishable from the floor! It was effin' BROOTAL!
Heaven & Hell/Queensryche/Alice Cooper - Just plain fucking EPIC, all three bands were phenomenal!
Eric Johnson - Ah Via Musicom tour, Florida Theater, Jacksonville. If you're ever in Jville, and have the opportunity to catch a show there, do NOT miss it! As Geoff Tate told us the last time Queensryche played there: "We've played all around the world for almost 30 years, in venues from clubs to theaters to arenas, and this building is in the top 5 best-sounding, classiest rooms we've ever played, you're very lucky to have this place here!". He's right, and EJ was absolutely amazing that night!

OK, I've gotta stop now, sooooo many other great shows, though!

there are so many that should be on a list, but .... Cryptopsy and Gorguts at the cocodrie in san fran, that only held about 300 people. i don't really like the bigger concert arenas, always sounds like shit..

For me it would have to be the Guns n' Roses with Skid Row opening or Metallica.

faith no more this year.

My favorite was seeing Ozzy w Randy in 82 at the Toledo Sports Arena. Had been playing guitar a year or so....yeah that left a mark! Gen admission too, right up front, awesome!!

#2 would be Maiden Somewhere in Time at the Richfield Coliseum. To this day the absolute best sounding show I've seen. Just killer!!

I was at that Somewhere in Time show. I gave my future wife tickets to that concert for her birthday. She still reminds me of that (as she really didn't like my music)...My son still wears the concert T-shirt. Great show. Can't remember who opened; fastway?

I was at the Somewhere in Time tour, it was Vinnie Vincent when I was there.
You were lucky.

I saw VV open for Alice Cooper....he was so horrible it was funny. Way too many Spinal Tap moments for a 30 minute set.
I saw that tour, there was so much junk onstage it looked like a yard sale for an entire neighborhood

Best concert experience I have had was seeing Motorhead a few years ago in a tiny convention center. I ended up meeting a few of Motorheads roadies the day before the show and they hooked me up with some all access passes for the show. I got to watch from the side of the stage and actually met Lemmy.

Saw Jeff Waynes War Of The Worlds last year. It's amazing seeing how much goes into those shows

Another would be Rush in 2007

A lot more metalheads here than I thought!

Younger than most but for me;

- Desaster, Metal Inquisitor, Nocturnal, Witchburner, Flame - Hellbangers Moselfranken fest 2007, Koblenz, Germany

- Heaven and Hell - 2008 in Quebec city

- Slayer in 2002 (for Slayer only but on tour with Soulfy and In Flames) in Quebec city

- Maryland Death Fest 09 (Asphyx, Destroyer 666, Absu, Bolt Thrower, Aura Noir, Atheist, Hail of Bullets etc) This year will be as killer or even more!

- Testament in 2008 in Quebec city

Would have killed to see Agent Steel back inm the days!

going to see Megadeth, Slayer and Testament in August down in Detroit.........

The WEAK need not apply!!!

been to many great shows with great musicians, but the best concert experience was
80 (or 81?) pylon, plasmatics, psychedelic furs, gang of four. free outdoor halloween show with festival seating. lots of peaceful freaks milling around. wouldnt have been the same in a regular concert venue.

I dig the hell outta Desaster, Nocturnal and Witchburner. Can't wait to pick up the new Witchburner when it comes out.

Opeth 2 years ago in nyc, they were untouchable that night.
SAigon Kick back in 1995 i think, the Water tour with Jason singing. AWESOME show.
Primus everytime i saw them, about 11 times.
There will always be a warm place in my heart for all the GWAR shows i went to as a teen.

King's X opening for PT in Boston. Was stoned as shit with my ex girlfriend. Great night.

Certainly not the best, but, saw Great White & Dokken last night. Sound was terrible. Terrible sound guy OR system OR both. Could hardly hear the guitars. Don just doesn't have it any more.
:( A real waste

#1 Pink Floyd - Pulse tour in the New Orleans Super Dome. Surround sound, airplanes flying around, scary ass huge pigs, biggest stage I've ever seen with a light and effects show that has not been beat to this day, Gilmour playing, etc.

#2 Fates Warning opening for Dream Theater opening for Queensryche at the Verizon Theater in Houston.

#3 Rush - R30 tour at the outdoor Woodlands Pavilion in Houston. 3 hours of Rush live, awesome show.

Holy shit, bro, I was at that same Floyd show at the Dome! ON MY BIRTHDAY! That was the #1 greatest show I listed, too.

Man, 80,000 people all singing Wish You Were Here at the top of their (our!) lungs was just impossibly epic!

Big Fates & Rush guy, too, you have excellent taste!

The last thread was pretty cool about the 1st concert seen.
Now....what was YOUR BEST CONCERT?

I think it was The Monsters of Rock tour for me....
So many Cool bands on one bill.
Kindom Come, Dokken, Scorpions, Metallica, Van Halen....

God if you're talking multi headliner gigs there's Monsters of Rock, Clash of the Titans (AIC, Slayer, Antrax, Megadeth), Lallapalooza 1 & 3.

However, if we're talking 1 headliner shows I'm gonna have to go with The Who on their 25th Anniversary tour. Daltry could still give you goosebumps when he sang Love Reign o'er Me.

It edges out Bowie with Frampton, and Pink Floyd for the top spot.
