Simple... Pink Floyd, 1994, Louisiana Super Dome, on my BIRTHDAY!
But since it really is unfair to compare anyone else to a Pink Floyd live show, here are a few other highlights:
Stevie Ray Vaughan - In Step tour, only months before he died. It forever changed the way I thought of the blues!
Iron Maiden & Judas Priest, 1982. Really, Maiden and Priest in their prime on the same bill, what else needs to be said?
Van Halen, 1981 (My first time seeing them. To this day, one of the most kickass, high-energy rock shows I've ever witnessed!)
Rush - Snakes & Arrows tour, last year! (I've seen them 15 times over the years, and they were never better!)
King's X opening for Joe Satriani and Dream Theater. (King's X blew both Joe & DT off the stage, HARD, and even they admitted it when they came out!)
Joe Bonamassa - So, It's Like That tour. I love the addition of the keyboards and Joe's improved vocals, but Kenny Kramme & Eric Czar were his best rhythm section by far, IMO.
Queensryche - Empire (Operation:Mindcrime) tour. These guys were a fucking MACHINE back then, and Geoff was one of the best live metal singers of all time during this era.
Badlands - Voodoo Highway tour, Jacksonville. One of my all-time favorite bands, and my absolute favorite singer ever, they were incredible live.
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell tour. In a skating rink, of all places! Phil told everyone early in the set: "Our stage is your stage, we wanna see every last one of you motherfuckers up here before the night's over!", and by the end of the night, the entire stage was a pit, almost indistinguishable from the floor! It was effin' BROOTAL!
Heaven & Hell/Queensryche/Alice Cooper - Just plain fucking EPIC, all three bands were phenomenal!
Eric Johnson - Ah Via Musicom tour, Florida Theater, Jacksonville. If you're ever in Jville, and have the opportunity to catch a show there, do NOT miss it! As Geoff Tate told us the last time Queensryche played there: "We've played all around the world for almost 30 years, in venues from clubs to theaters to arenas, and this building is in the top 5 best-sounding, classiest rooms we've ever played, you're very lucky to have this place here!". He's right, and EJ was absolutely amazing that night!
OK, I've gotta stop now, sooooo many other great shows, though!
