When used with high gain it is without doubt the noisiest pedal I've ever used. It is useless for high gain chorus, I'd need a tone sucking gate to use it!

I had a TC Electronic Corona that got fried so I tried the Plethora and it wouldn't work with bluetooth or a computer, so researched and ask my buddy about his. He said he'd stop by with his to see if there is a difference. WTF? Did I get a bad one?

It's just the nature of the beast with higher gain and old school BBD chips and the pedal itself..... it's still usable but you kind of have to adjust.

Where in chain are you putting it?

I tried in front and it is a good sounding device, but noisy. The only thing in front of it is the guitar, then straight into the amp. It's not like I'm pushing the signal up with a boost pedal. I put it in the loop, it's quiet, but there was a noticeable jump in volume.

I'm on the fence as to whether I'll take it back and just get the TC unit that I liked.

Thanks for the information on the chip. My rig is dead silent when the volume knob on the guitar is off and there's not much hiss right before the guitar starts to feedback at 11. Mike Bendinelli @ Boogie made my amp a super-amp!

Songs like "Sex Type Thing", "Electric Eye" sound better with chorus IMO, but no one really notices and won't hear the hiss if I turn it on and off quick enough. The clean channel has no issues with hiss when I use the chorus pedal.

It all comes down to one thing - does it do it's one thing better than any other chorus?

All chorus pedals are noisy in front of high gain. I feel the DC-2 is quieter than the CE-2.

If you use a stereo wet dry wet rig with metal tones, nothing can beat a high quality rack chorus. I think the Yamaha SPX90 Symphonic preset is likely one of the best chorus sounds ever created.

The TC Corona was not noisy or tone sucky, but I tired of it. I only need one good chorus for some songs where I hear it.

I've been messing around for about an hour now with different guitars and settings. I want to like it.

My friend who also has a Waza chorus brought his over and it was just as noisy. I'm keeping anyway because it does the one thing I need. The Vibe Unit is quiet but it's a Univibe chorus and it does it's thing great, it's not a CE type.

On a side note - my friend never read the BOSS Chorus manual so when I explained the switch to him, he had it all wrong as to what was what. Left, or S, is CE2, middle is CE1, right is CE1 vibrato.

We think it's just the amp, I have the gain up pretty good, but there is zero hiss. It's a really good amp for noise floor, it's basically non existent if I go straight in. Nothing to hear at all and then ROAR!!! when I pull the volume on the guitar up. Shocking, stunning, brutal.

Here's my board - Tuner/receiver - Wah - Vibe Unit - Chorus -into amp, loop, Delay - Reverb - Sonic Stomp - Lead Boost 6 band GEQ.

Play it on the clean channel man!
*ducks*
Yes, it is so awesome with the clean channel and it is colorless with the dirty channel and no one will really notice the half a second of hiss when I kick it on or off, and if they do, they're truly a fan.

Two thumbs up for the chorus sound and tone.

Little trick if using with gain..... just roll the volume back on your guitars knob some until it's acceptable...... works for me :dunno:

I got my Boss Waza Chorus (and a bunch of other Boss effects) in front of my 3rd Power Dragon amp. I got the gain on the amp dimed. There is no annoying noise when I kick on the chorus.
I've tried it in the effects loop, but the volume goes up several notches, so I don't use it that way.

You grabbed the Boss with a buffer, which is going to make it noisier. I believe the Waza has the option to turn it off.

That being said - you bought a Boss when you could had a Griffin Analog CE-Custom?
I was ready to grab a Boss CE-2 Waza but eventually caved to Wayne's high pressure sales tactics and ordered his pedal instead \:D/

Tone sucking gate? I mean, a gate just mutes the signal altogether. It's off or on. Shouldn't be any tone suck if you set the threshold right.

What little bit I've tried my CE2W with some gain, it's super noisy also. I run it after the phase, od's & fuzz.

The clean sounds are to die for though. If it's your thing in that arena, you'll know it the second you switch it on.

Nice board man, I see you have a switcher. I assume you mean it's really noisy when the chorus is actually on?

I keep hearing Rush when reading this thread. CE-2W is the modulation pedal I use most.
