I do not know if it is just me or I am getting old, but lately I have been leaning more towards lower to mid output pickups these days. Got my MCP T Wrecks installed in my cheapo Edwards LP, which is still a killer guitar and I dig the sound of them. Sounds great boosted with a Marshall style amp at medium gain or with the gain turned up more. On that note I still love the Angel Dust pickups the best which are medium output. Still need some time with them though, but so far I like them. Wades pickups definitely rock!!!

I feel the same overall. Low to mid output pickups. If I need to hit the front harder, I'll use one of the boosts I have available. There are exceptions though. My Artcore has a GFS Crunchy Rails in it, and it sounds really good. It's super hot, which limits its use, but it sounds great. I want to pull it out of that guitar and put it in my Agile LP, so I can use the Artcore for it's intended purpose, but there's a weird magic to that combo that keeps stopping me. I'm playing progressive metal with a high output pickup in a semi-hollow guitar, and using my LP and RG770 DX for more mellow stuff  It doesn't make any sense, but it just works.

I really do want to play around with pickups though. I've got the Crunchy Rails, a GFS Mean 90, and a Rio Grande CrunchBox sitting here. The LP needs new pickups, for sure. I didn't like the CrunchBox in the Artcore, but that was 7-8 years ago. The Artcore is a really bright sounding guitar, so it's hard to find pickups that work. I was thinking I would try the CrunchBox in the bridge of the LP, but I'm not sure what to do with the neck at that point. Can't decide if I want to try the Mean 90 in the neck of the LP, or the Artcore. Maybe I should just throw the Crunch Box and the Mean 90 in the LP and see what happens. I want to get it right the first time, because I fucking hate soldering.

Let's see some pictures of the Edwards! Just noticed you're in Illinois. I grew up in central IL. Might be moving back in the next couple weeks if I don't find a damn job here in SD.

Yeah I know what you mean. I have always had low output pickups in my Heritage 150CM from the Seth Lovers to the Lindy Fralin AIV pickups to now the MCP 2nd Degree BB in the bridge and the T Wreck in the neck. All of my other guitars have medium output pickups that are upper range of medium near the lower edge of high output.

Yeah I live in the far north Chicago burbs up near Wisconsin. I actually live 5-10 minutes from Gurnee Mills Mall. Man I hate that place!! Here is a pick of the Edwards.

Why in the hell is the picture sideways when you click on it?

Oh that is weird    Not as heavy as a LP or my Heritage 150CM. It is a nice guitar for the price though. I bought it as my first electric was a cheap Japanese LP copy just like this except it had a bolt on neck and I wanted something similar. I still have the guitar, but it was not stored correctly by my Dad over the years and is messed up, but I still have the original 1970's DiMarzio SD in the bridge.

Good to hear about the T Wrecks. I've been using a 2nd Degree Blackbelt in my R8 and like what I'm hearing.
The T Wrecks are similar to the old T-Tops, I take it? T-Tops make me think of early Schenker.

They are great pickups. I also have a 2nd Degree BB in my Heritage and it rocks. Yes, the T-Wrecks are similar to the old T-Tops. Just Wade's take on it.

I ordered a set of T Wrecks for my Les Paul 68 Reissue custom. I'm curious to see how they compare to the Detroiters in my SG and the Wolfetone Marshallheads that will be in my Framus Panthera. Too bad he doesn't make Angel Dust anymore. I was really interested in that. I wasn't a fan of the Afwayu's though, but the detroiters are my overall favorite pickups that I've tried.

That's cool  Was your first LP an Electra, by any chance?

If you like lower output pickups you will probably dig them. The Angel Dust is my favorite MCP and actually one of my favorite pickups as I have it in 4 of my guitars. I was bummed when he quit making them as well as the Garuda. The next best thing is an under wound Afwayu which slays in a bright guitar like a Jackson maple neck thru or a bright Super Strat. Here is some info on T Wrecks.

No, it was a Cortez I believe?

I love the T-Wrecks. The bridge is ultra sensitive to height. Not that it's hard to find the sweet spot, that's easy; but the tone changes drastically.

I noticed that. What height do you keep yours at?

On the bass side I'm 4/32nd from the screw piece to the low E and on the treble side I'm 3/32nd.

When I dial in my pickups I always begin with my bridge pickup height with the bass side two nickels thickness from the low e string and the treble side 1 nickel from the high e strings. Real scientific haha. For me I got these dialed in by raising them up on the bass side where the tone got really fat and sort of saturated/hairy. It was actually actually kind of cool in an unruly and gnarly sort of way, but at the expense of some clarity. Then I backed it off to where the clarity came back, and I just found where I thought I had the best balance of thickness and clarity. It changes pretty noticeably adjusting it, at least in the guitar I have it in, so it was pretty easy to hear that point of balance. Then I tweaked the treble side a touch.

Thanks, I have mine set pretty much the same. Maybe a tad closer.

Awesome! Great to see some MCP love.
My faves are the HotHeads, Detroiters and 2nd Deg Black Belts.
The only MCP set I haven't totally clicked with is the Afwayu set, and I think it's because I also have gravitated from higher-output pickups to low-medium outputs. But the Afwayu Set is still interesting enough to keep around in my G&L USA Legacy guitar.

My T-Wreck bridge and Dragon Suit bridge models arrived a couple weeks ago.
I'm getting the T-Wreck bridge installed in my Burny Les Paul that currently has an MJ-wound JB that is too dark sounding in the Burny.
And the Dragon Suit bridge is going in my Godin Progression that is also getting routed and fitted with a Gotoh Floyd Rose trem.
Can't wait!

Let us know what you think about both pickups. Do not know much about the Dragon Suits. What r they all about?

Will do man, will do.

Wade recommended the Dragon Suit bridge to beef up lows and tame the brightness of my Maple and Poplar Godin guitar.

It's a great playing and sounding guitar, but it just needs a pickup swap for my tastes.
It's also getting Seymour Duncan YJM single coils and the Gotoh Floyd Rose installed.
And I'm having the HDR Revoicer system pulled out too. Hate that thing.
