So I had a gift card for $50 to GC, and there wasn't anything I really needed, or wanted from there, so I decided to grab me one of these. With their MF price match and card, I was out the door for $40. There are have been good reviews on TGP, but we know how that goes. So I got it home and messed with it for about an hour. I first tried it through my Jet City, and then my SF Champ. I must say, I am pretty happy with it. I really liked the idea of three tone knobs, and they are all pretty sensitive, with the mids being almost overly sensitive. You can't run it all the way up, as it will get muddy. The treble has a nice high end without getting harsh, and with the bass knob all the way up, you have an abundance. Through my EVM12L, it was impressive.
I have to agree with Dunlop's description that the gain knob will take you through the different era's of Marshalls. Although I would say it is weighted to the JCM800 side, with the gain lower their is plenty of Plexi feel, and a little JTM. I was sold when I plugged into my Champ with its 8" speaker, and played the intro to The Trooper with the gain on about 11 and goosing it with a tubescreamer. For the price, it is hard to beat this pedal. It is nothing like the '78 Distortion I bought and sold quickly. No fuzziness at all on the gain knob, and not too bright, with a wide range of sounds on the gain knob. With GC's 4th of July sale coming up, you owe it to yourself to try this if you are looking for a MIAB pedal. I still want to try the Bogner Blue, but this will hold be over for a little.
By the way, no pics. It looks like every other MXR pedal and it is silver with black print. Pretty easy to picture.
