How are you guy setting up the Savage Drive when you use it into a already dirty amp ? Gain at zero or bumped up a bit ? How do the tight and bite pots affect the tone ?
Only a bit of time with it, but with my 1990 2555 I like the gain at 10am, vol at noon, bite at 2 pm and tight at 11am. With the Jubilee gain on 8. But I've got lots more dialing in to try....
This is for an 80s hard rock tone.

Here is how I set mine and I don't change very much from there.

I set my mine like this in front of a low/medium gain amp setting, but if I want a cleaner tone I turn up the volume and turn down the dirt.

Ugh the gas.... but why did they not put a spot to use a battery? I hate using a power supply.

I thought you can use a battery but have to take the bottom off to access? I'll check when I'm home.

No battery. Power supply only. I was kinda turned off too when I first looked at these a couple years ago, but don't even think about it now

This pedal is great. Really great. It's transparent and adds another layer to my Herbert. Doesn't take away too much lows like the od808. Which still has its place for sure. But it's a great addition to my od808, they sound nothing alike. Great purchase, I'm happy.

Since I love my Maxon OD808 and SRB 808 I really didn't need or want another OD pedal, then I read this thread dammit!

I listened to al the existing vids on the Savage Drive and I placed my order the other night. I will be awaiting delivery of a new Savage Drive and I'll see if it lives up to the hype.

Killer pedal. Love mine. Works best in front of my Diezel VH4, Uber Blue, and Triple Recto. Tightens up everything and shapes the mids w/o killing your tone.

Just pulled mine out of the mailbox and plugged it in.
Like everyone else here has said, this is a real nice pedal.
With most OD / boosts, I have one setting that works and I just leave it there, but this thing has a bunch of settings that sound really good. I love what the Tight control does.
Going by the pics posted, I'm using a little more Tight and a little less Bite than you guys, but I've only tried it in front of a Jube re-issue so far. Just took a break to get a drink and thought I'd post my first impressions. So far, I'm really impressed with this thing

Everytime I see this thread I want one more and more.

I swore by the Maxon 808 but the Koko Boost took the spot for my current amp. TBH it would be nice if the Savage sounded even better than the Koko due to the price and size of the Suhr.

Really need to try one of these.

There is some kind of magic beans formula with the original Maxon OD808 that some of the clones can't replicate. It has this nice grit to it with just enough boost and it cuts just enough lowend without being too much.

I had a maxon od808 a few years ago sold it thinking the SRB clone bested it and it did in some areas like clarity, but I recently picked up another Maxon and it is superior to my SRB in a couple of areas which I can't exactly put my finger on but there is a difference and the Maxon bumped the SRB clone pedal for now. I guess sometimes it is the mood your ears are in but I swear the Maxon design has something...

I'm kind of looking at this Savage Drive as kind of a PQ3 cleanboost overdrive thingy like a DIME metal setup not exactly for my classic hard rock that the Maxon delivers and has it's place with me.

It is one of the first pedals to catch my ear in quite a while, hence the purchase.

I know this is a tubescreamer, anyone know what is going under the hood?

Ive read it might have the clipping dides removed and has a gain mod similar to the keeley baked.

The only thing attractive thus far over the plethora of other screamer clones is the price.

Who knows screamers in/out and has an opinion on this one?

I use an eq/boost for pre distortion tone shaping wih high gain amps, and currently using an EQD dunes (808) for leads in the mosfet position.

Great. Now I need one to see how it stacks up against my current OD stash. Which happens to be original Koko, Shiba Reloaded, EQD Talons, and a Cusack V2 Screamer.
