if you scroll down this topic, Wade from Motorcity pickups says Cantrell's Rampages are actually maple, and not Alder like everyone thinks/says.

He seems like a good source since Jerry is using MC pups in all of his guitars now.

Jerry's Rampages were just off the rack stuff G&L sold in the 80's, he was a nobody when he got those so they were not one offs or customs. They newer (late 90's) reissues have the alder bodies. So they are whatever the body wood G&L used back in the 80s and I am pretty sure he is right that they are maple.

What the heck is a snorkler??????????

Do they still make the Rampage or one like Jerry's? I never ever see the Cantrell sig model! Never. Maybe they made like three of them, LOL.

I thought about buying a Legacy HB to get close to his guitar.

Well, I bet the Modded Wah has the Buffer removed, a vocal mod ( One res. Change) and a T. Bypass which would be very easy and make total sense also to preserve the Amp tones. BAsically a very striped down wah. Ofcoarse you can get crazy with Tropical fish caps, etc. but this is a logical standpoint. Dave Friedman would know the juice for sure.
Dennis Molan at ProTone Pedals reported to me some time ago, that he made a custom wah for Jerry, and Dave Navarro. This must have been a yr, or 2 ago. He sent me one also, and its juicy!!

now that's great info!

I always wondered why he still used Duncans instead of custom wound stuff
I had a BK Holy Diver that was just perfect for Jerry's tones, specially on the leads and open chords department
just THICK and smooth mids and a very very clear and open tone on chords

now I have a Cold Sweat set (great for Dimebag stuff!) in my '90 jap Hurricane LP copy and a Nailbomb set in my '70 Gibson Les Paul Custom

I really want to try some Motor Cities and WCR Godwoods

He has one of the best live tones I've ever heard now- Huge, clear, and throaty. When you see him play live, its very intoxicating that he plays so smooth and natural- I think seeing him play live up close gave me a much better perspective and appreciation as a player

I've seen Zakk Wylde inviting Alice to tour with BLS on Mike Inez twitter a few weeks ago
BLS is coming to Brazil in December
I hope AiC can come with them

Jerry has always been my biggest influence, along with Dimebag, Iommi and Zakk
he's just perfect at what he does
feeling, tone and technique

when did he start using your pickups?

G&L has released the new price list and you can get a import or full USA custom shop Rampage with his sig on the headstock.

The most important sonic issue, obviously, was Cantrell's guitar setup. “A lot of Jerry's sound comes from his G&L guitars — he's nicknamed them ‘Porno’ and ‘No War,’” says Fig. “He used this Bogner Fish preamp he's had for years and went out to a couple of his own 1412s, and then Nick has an awesome collection of vintage Marshall cabs. Then it was about getting the right mic and finding the sweet spot. I placed it right in front of the cone, and if it got too dark or too bright, I'd go out there and make sure it was feeling good. We didn't use any EQ; it was all mic and guitar amp. Jerry can be an intimidating guy, and when we got our sound up, he came in, grabbed his guitar, turned around, smiled, and said, ‘Yeah, man.’ We knew then we were on the right track.”

Cantrell switched between his G&Ls and Les Pauls on the main rhythm parts, and cherry-picked from Raskulinecz's collection for flavors, favoring a '57 Gold Top — a Les Paul Custom Raskulinecz describes as “fretless” because the frets are so worn down — and, on almost every track, a '63 SG with P-90 pickups. “Jerry has a staging amp that goes to two cabs,” Fig continues, “and we'd blend in a HiWatt, an Orange and sometimes Nick's favorite Marshall, a 2550, and we'd do a whole pass on four or five tracks on one guitar. We'd blend a couple of mics per cab, which kept it open-sounding and more flexible for Nick. On top of that, Jerry likes to double his parts, and thank God he's an awesome player who can hear himself great.” The rhythm parts were placed left and right, doubled left and right, and centered. “That took awhile,” says Fig, “because of tuning and making sure the tones really locked in together. We didn't want a big smearing of guitars; we wanted it to sound like one big hand.”

Its been quite some time ago...Here's an update also. He is using the SHiva and a Dave Friedman Marsha on this leg of the tour also switching outwhile he was back in Cali. Sept 17- St. Andrews in Detroit, MI This show is sold out! This will be one hell of a show too as ST. Andrews is a killer little place Downtown. About 1 1/2 miles away from my studio :rawk:

Cantrell spec ASAT deluxe notice three bolt neck plate and control layout (push pull knob no coil tap switch) which was discontinued as fast as it was introduced.

whoa that's nice
that Friedman Marsha sounds awesome

did he already have your pickups on the recording sessions for the new album?

can you tell what model is he using in his main black Les Paul Custom and on his cream cigarrette burnt "Cheetah" Les Paul?

Last night in Cleveland Jerry used 6 Bogner 4X12s, his old white/yellow G&L, a new looking black one and a black Les Paul. Good tone indeed! I couldn't see any amps, but he did use a wah and a little delay here and there.

Not happy I missed that show but I did see them twice on their last run.

I don't have a ticket yet for the Kings X show either. I am going to check out Lynch on Sunday and may still hit CL for a Kings ticket. I bought the new Porc Tree CD and I am just not feeling it. I guess I need to spin it a few more times.

By the way, I have a Randall RM50 combo in the mail with a Deluxe and SL+ module. I am going to start grabbing some other modules as well.

My drummer told me we were going to open for them at the Moore here in Seattle ..... looks like that is not going to happen. I really like playing the Moore....
