Ok guys... The truth is that this clip was made with the Axe-FX - direct recorded. No cabs, no tubes. It is a patch I created in just a few minutes. This may seem like a bit of a dick move, but I REALLY wanted to see if anyone would say "modeler" before I revealed the truth. This thing is the real deal folks. And I definitely see positive comments from folks who say all the Axe clips don't sound like a real amp. Well guys... it appears that most heard nothing but real amp tone, except for the Don... Now it'll be interesting to hear what kind of comments I get from here on out...

Original Post Below:

"The guy I was holding the PeaceMaker for decided he wanted RockStah over at Metro to modify it even more (???) so I had to send her out before I thought I'd have to. Anyway... I decided to fire her up for one more clip before she went... I always wanted to do one of these... I took the left side of this track without Ed's guitar and just panned it center so you can here the band on both sides. The only guitar you hear is mine panned center... Excuse the tuning and timing... I was in a hurry...The last time I'll hear this baby cranked up in person...

Glorious, wasn't she?

Oh... BTW - this was my Kramer with Vic at Mojave's PAF-clone pickup...

Steve, i like those tones ...why mod for? sounds great the way it is, although I almost send Rockstah my 50 jmp to do a voicing mod to experiment, but bailed on it when i got the Ulitmate Attenuator and i just boost like normal with od..done deal.

good luck man

Ant - I'm not modding it - I sold it and the guy who bought it is modding it before he even plays it and it has already been modded to 2203 specs w/pre and post PI masters. I think its crazy to send it in for modding before even hearing it in person, especially since it is already modded.

I don't know, I don't understand why a guy would have it modded before he even got it?

I'm with you man - I think it is crazy to mod it before you've even heard it in person...

Playing is cool but your clip doesn't sound as organic and open as the clip Thump posted.

Thanks and I think the reason is the post-EQing and effects I did to fit the tone of the guitar in the mix. I was trying to come as close to the original as I could quickly and the truth is, I don't think many would like the guitar tone from the original song outside of the mix...

Nice tone and I really like the candykane!!! :D

Thanks! I was having trouble with the song because the guitar needs some minor work. It is a killer guitar, but right now if it is in tune on the open strings, it is out of tune at the 7th fret. Oh well... whaddaya gonna do...

sounds great steve..your old clips where the reason a few years back i modded my plexi into a peacemaker clone.....nice guitar by the way

I bet it was originally very bright and harsh.

For sure. What I was saying though was that if you just isolated the guitar track from the recording with effects and as it is EQ'd in the mix, without the rest of the mix, I don't think many would like the tone. It sounds cool in the mix though...

I like the tone. Sounds good. If I didn't know it wasn't the real thing and not looking at the screen, I would have said crank up the Van Halen. Got to love the way they record their albums. Just turn off the left or right speaker and you can jam without Eddie's guitar.

Thanks man! Yeah - it is pretty fun!

Man if I had the money for that amp I would have taken it off your hands in a heart beat. Doesntsund like its going to go home though with all the mods etc. :( I would have kept it stock.

Well... I'd already modded it to 2203 preamp specs and added a PPIMV in place of the power dampening, however it still retained the base tone of the PeaceMaker. I don't understand why anyone would modify it more thoughj, especially without hearing it, but hey, different strokes for different folks, eh?

Exactly. I'm sure with just mods you did it would have been exactly what I wanted. I would have much rather had a PPMV instead of the power dampening. But like you said.... to each his own!

You enjoying the Axe?
