I guy I knew, who worked at 'The 12th Fret' here in Toronto, said he personally brought over a Marshall head and helped John set it up...I don't know how many solos were done with the Marshall on that at CD, but I absolutely believe the guy who told me...and I think his Mesa tone just kills on the rhythm tracks.Gainfreak":ba5df said:Digital Jams":ba5df said:So I am speaking with my guitar tech and we start yacking about Bradshaw and John Suhr and the conversation moves towards Sykes and what he used for the 87 Whitesnake album.....of course I state MK III Colis and he says no![]()
He said he met Sykes at NAMM and John stated in the studio it was an early 80s JMP 50 watter.....I just do not hear this though.
He does know his stuff and is a killer guitar man but I aint buying this.
. I have an article with Sykes in an old guitar rag about it being a slaved Boogie. The srticle never mentioned the model and later on it was mentioned on Johns website that it was the coliseum heads .Its also possible that the album was double tracked a few times and maybe he added a marshall track or two... Who knows!
With that said... If i am wrong and John did use something else... It was a highly modded JMP 50 watter or one using a shitload of boosts because I am familiar as MOFO with the old JMPS and they don't souind like that stock.
That is a killer story Adam!
