OK, what's next?

At the distances we are talking about it is not viewed as altitude. And going to the moon is not 'flying high'.
That doesn't account for not being able to take a single photograph of the "planet though". It just tells me they couldn't get far enough away from it to get the photo. It's like if I live in suburbia where I can touch the side of my house with one hand and my neighbor's with the other. To get a picture of the side of my house I would have to take multiple photos and then assemble a composite of them because I am too close to get the whole house in the shot. Otherwise what's the excuse for not providing a single, unadulterated image? There is even debate about where "space" begins so yes it does seem to me that we are talking about altitude.

I appreciate your thoughtful post. Thanks.

It's cool that you have a different perspective on things. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I respect that actually.

I also get that no one here is going to change your mind. I am admittedly not an expert in astronomy nor this 'composite' photo of Earth you guys are talking about. I mean I know the image but didn't realize until today that it was a composite. But see, I don't care because that makes sense to me. With the distances involved, it should be a composite. I'm guessing they had to take multiple pics just to get one good one they could frame together and again, add color for our benefit in a light spectrum so we can recognize it. Otherwise, it would have looked like....meh.

Consider the Pale Blue Dot photo of Earth. Taken over 30 years ago from 4 Billion miles away. Yes, 4,000,000,000 miles. Voyager Space Probe. You launch it once and it just keeps floating through the vacuum of space - because you know, there is nothing to stop its momentum. Curious as to your take on this.

This is fun too. I don't question it because it seems very obvious..

I don't believe in space probes, space ships, space stations, or satellites. I don't believe the pictures that are presented are presented in an unmolested or honest way. They are edited, combined with other pictures, colorized, etc to impress the general public. It's modified to make them more impressive, to sell you on the idea. It's like making a beach vacation brochure, everything is modified to impress you that much more. The beah looks pristine, the waters azure. Then you get to the beach and there are straws ciggy butts, and some woman's weave littering the sand. There are stinking sponges washed up on the beach, or jellyfish, or red tide.

If it contradicts the bible or orthodoxy I would just as soon it burn to the ground. Call me narrow minded, stupid, uneducated, a dimwit, tin foil hat etc it only reinforces what I believe that much more. I also reject it on the principle that space and science is too often used to attack biblical narratives. Even if they were 100% right I would disbelieve them out of spite alone. Maybe you can understand, maybe not, it's cool. But thank you for being open in terms of discussing it, it speaks good things about you.

People attack biblical narratives, not space and science.

It is completely possible for one to believe that God created the universe and also that humans can send things into it. That’s what makes you narrow minded imo. I also think it’s a bit disingenuous too because space programs have resulted in so many technologies and inventions that people, including you, use every single day.

God never hung out with Lot. At Abraham's request he sent angels to retrieve him from Sodom before it was destroyed by fire and brimstone. You would likely want the same for your relatives.

He also offered his daughters up to a rapist mob, I don't want him anywhere near my family, let alone being a part of it

Seriously man, you need help. And anyone who thinks that way. I give you credit for admitting that out loud though. Cognizant reality denialism is bringing society back to the dark ages very quickly. I guess we’ll have to amend the old saying to ‘willful ignorance is bliss.’

Like, I respect the loyalty and devotion shown by followers of any faith, but I read the bible and I was like "God kills Egyptian babies and literally says he's gonna kill us all someday." Call me crazy but fuck that asshole.

I’m actually the same way. If someone tells me to do something or believe something my instinct is to do the opposite. It actually serves me well. No regrets not taking the dangerous and useless vax for example. …but what’s cognizant reality denialism? Sounds right up my alley!

I don’t respect such loyalty and devotion because that arises from not questioning things. Without good questions there are no good answers.

I would not call you any of these things "narrow minded, stupid, uneducated, a dimwit, tin foil hat etc" Because they are not true.

What you're actually doing is defending your belief system In the face of evidence to the contrary. You have (I assume) a life long emotional investment in it, and if you allow facts to shake that up you'll lose your investment. Clearly it brings happiness, and comfort to your life. There's nothing wrong with that, as long as you don't demand others abide by the holy rules, etc..

I say the same thing, every time you post here.
