That doesn't account for not being able to take a single photograph of the "planet though". It just tells me they couldn't get far enough away from it to get the photo. It's like if I live in suburbia where I can touch the side of my house with one hand and my neighbor's with the other. To get a picture of the side of my house I would have to take multiple photos and then assemble a composite of them because I am too close to get the whole house in the shot. Otherwise what's the excuse for not providing a single, unadulterated image? There is even debate about where "space" begins so yes it does seem to me that we are talking about altitude.At the distances we are talking about it is not viewed as altitude. And going to the moon is not 'flying high'.
