Omega Obsidian: Am I missing something?

Glad to hear that you didn't like your Obsidian with EL34's either. I don't remember messing with stuff on the back but I only had it for one day.

My Jubilee-inspired Granophyre is still on the way. I'm very excited that Mike was willing to put the VNFB knob on the back. I also got all my old cabs back from storage in Arizona, so when the Granophyre arrives, I'll have a lot of options to test it through.
Waiting for it!

Which amp would be the best to try?
Depends on the features you need. MZero Overdrive is 2 channels, Trinity is 3 and has MIDI (more expensive though). Try to find one used. They sound great and take boosts very well.

I think the regular mzero would be cool if it was less like a slo and more like a hot rodded Marshall.

Hey Team - Finally following up on this!

Yesterday, I got my Granophyre. Mine is the first one to leave the production line with the new v1.5 updates (see below).

As much as I hated the Obsidian, I am really loving this Granophyre. I don't know if it's the new v1.5 updates or what but the Granophyre is a completely different amp from the Obsidian. It sounds far more Marshall-ish, and the gain is far more useable across the entire sweep of the knob. The low end isn't bloated like the Obsidian and the highs are present and cutting, but smooth; without the harsh spikes in the Obsidian. Unlike the switches on the Obsidian (which I felt did little to nothing), the "Hi/Low" and "Voice" switches on the Grano actually dramatically affect the sound. The clarity of this amp is absolutely ridiculous. The note separation is even better than my Carstens Grace. A very, very modern but very, very cool amp. It can even do some hotter vintage tones. I have to admit, I'm very impressed.

Here's a "first look" video when I plugged into it for the first time. I just jam around a little, try some of the different options, and give you my first impressions.

I got both the Granophyre and the Uber Ultra this week, and I expected that I'd love the Uber Ultra and dislike the Granophyre; but it's been the exact opposite so far. (Gonna play with the UA more this afternoon and use some different guitars -- I'm sure there's great tones in there -- but unlike the Grano, it wasn't "love at first strum.")

Sounds great, really great. Is that red variac looking device in play as well?
It’s on but not in play. Just providing power at 120v. I use it with my old Marshalls to variac them down to 90v or so.
