I have just bought another XTC and I have an opportunity to trade a guitar for a Diezel Herbert. I have not head the Herbert before but the review here and a lot of reading I have done makes me want one. I play rock/hard rock/metal but I like nice cleans. I like the XTC but I hate how the red channel is so over compressed. I am/was going to have it modded but I'd like opinions on the Herbert. Thanks in advance!!

I would say try it out first simple i will say i love herberts but there are still compressed i cant say its more compressed then a XTC since ive never tried one

What he's not telling you is that it's a requirement to wear assless leather chaps when he's showing it to you. Might want to think about that one. Remember..... life changing. :D

Is Gresham like Wisconsin or somethin?

I've owned both and I think channel 2 of the Herbert is the best. 3 was too compressed and hi-fi for my taste. Very tight though. I would rather have a Herbert with the clean channel, (which wasn't Fendery, but tons of headroom, clean as a bell) and 2 channel 2s. I'd have one on minus and the other plus. But I guess that would just be part of the VH4.

Not sure if an SLO is heavy enough for you, but that be what I'd want.

Suhr PT100 sounds perfect for you :)
I love my OD100se+, but some folks think they are too compressed.

The PT100 is more open sounding and has just as much gain as the OD100se+
and the cleans are to die for.

When I played Brad's Herbert I enjoyed it, but I prefer the Suhr stuff.
The PT is a freakin monster :)

That is funny!! Very good!! I actually laughed out loud on that one.  Life changing would be the right words on that one!! Or life ending!!

I loved the SLO but the effects loop sucks!!

Velcro you got me!

101b & Herbert are very different. Both are great amps, both are amps you grow on, the more you own them the more you get out of them. That said the Herbert is more compressed than the 101b IMO, though it's up for a debate. It really depends on how loud you play your amps, because Diezels open up when you push them hard, I'd say the opposite is true with Bogners.

I agree with Mark, I'd check out the PT100 or SE+. The cleans on the OD100 series is really in another league compared to most high gain channel switchers.
