I love the Herbert, you couldn't have gone wrong with either choice.

The herbert pwns!
I play a lot of different styles and it covers them all with excellence!!
...and the effects loop is flawless.

NICE!! I cant wait!!

Congrats on your Herbert purchase. Just wanted to say that I was in the same boat as you. Owned an xtc for awhile then got a Herbert. I did really like the xtc but like you I was not really digging the heavy tones. I'll never forget the first time I got to plug into the herbie. It was an Instant omg. I've had it for awhile now and like it as much now if not more. I think your going to love the herbie. Enjoy

Like realityescapes said the first time he pluged into it,and I am the same way it is pure insanity or pure genius. I can't get past it I love everything that I have but for me the herby is #1 for ME.

All and congrats and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you get it and plug in and crank up/out your first chord, make sure you have tissues handy

Yeah, if it's heavy tones you're after you've just acquired the jackpot!!

Congrats, now if I can find me a VH4 or a Herbie..................................

If you decide that you'd like to try a VH4, PM me. I haven't decided yet, but I may sell mine (2008, original owner and mint).

Tcrash here ya go. PM mhenson, or there is a guy from Alaska that is selling his brand new Herbert, I talked to the guy on the phone for about a 1/2 hour, he is in the military stationed up there. Seemed like an honest guy. He only has 3 feedback but I would have bought his head if my deal didn't work out. I told him if he relisted his Herbert I would post it here for him. I have a soft spot for our soldiers and I'd like to help the guy out if I can! My brother just got back from his 3rd tour in the middle east. I would have had no problem buying this amp from the guy.
Here is his link, I'm sure he is going to relist it, he is on night shift right now.

Thats why this has been such a tough move. I looked and looked for a Herbert when I bough my last XTC but thy were way out of my price range. Thats also why I asked so many questions on this forum, it made me feel like an idiot asking so many questions but no one has a Herbert where I live. I even ran an add on Craigslist asking if some one has one can I come over and listen to it. Think what that sounds like to a guy that has one. They were probably thinking the last thing I'm going to do is let some FREAK into my home so he can come back later to rob and kill me and then take my Herbie!! :gethim: :D

You'll love it though so put your concerns at ease. It's a tremendous amplifier with tons of tones and plenty of earth shattering heaviness. Be sure to check all the tubes, etc.. & make certain they're seated properly when you get it. Moreover, I'd check the bias straight away if you can. By the way, do you know what tube set is in it? Also, how old is the amp?

Its less than a year old and I think it has the original tubes in it. Where should the bias be set at? Thanks
