out the bastard, i mean you'd give praise for a good transaction, i think the duder doesn't need to continue under the pretense of having a good reputation, what he did is stole from you, that's seriously fucked

i'm sorry that happened, i hate hearing that kind of shit especially with all the people i sell to etcetc

i hope it works out and the guy man's up

peace

Brad, sorry to see this. You and I have had a few deals and you've always been awesome to work with. Here's the bottom line:

People don't give a shit when it's not their money. I guarantee if your guy had to pony up the cash for shipping he would have been a hell of a lot more careful. I have a FedEx shipping number, and I never ever ever give it out for that reason.

It's a sticky situation with you being the board owner and all, but this is pretty black and white. Just deal with it as if it happened to a regular member here and deal with the offender appropriately.

One other thing - see if you can get your shipping number changed, as the original guy could cause you all sorts of grief with it.

......the UPS store types the info into their computer, and then it spits out the label. That label is the same for Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air, or ground. The 'label' is simply a blank piece of paper that the computer prints onto. UNLESS, they used a Way Bill shipping form.

He either didn't care or simply left your info and they did what they wanted to. Either way, he is at fault and should pay the difference.

This times 100000000000

I had a local UPS store that would always overcharge me, they would always put weight up by 5 to 40 pounds more each time. I finally caught on and confronted them and they said they usually average it out which is BS. I started using another store and they have always weighed in and charged the exact amount. I do not know much about UPS in general, but I feel based on experience some of the stores based on profit or negligence just do things that are not in the interest of the customer.

That being said it is pretty much black and white and shipping costs like this when negligence by the seller goes back to the seller. He needs to come up with the money. Sounds like you are being fair and giving him time to do so as well to be helpful. A lot of guys would not be so kind. I think UPS is the one in the wrong if all the stories are correct posted above based on your side and what he said. I think he is in the dark now because $400 is probably a lot of money to him and he does not know how to respond.

Brad we have done a few deals as well, you are first class and I hope this works out for the best, good luck man!!

I would tell the seller to either get the UPS store he delt with to make it right or pay up the $400. If he doesn't have money, than he can work to get the money back.

If the guy is in Hammond, IN. That is pretty close to Chicago, and about 1 1/2 hours from me. Maybe time for a :gethim:
If the seller is really that naive or stupid, I do feel a bit sorry for him, but he needs to make this right, no question.

I always take my stuff to the FedEx or UPS outlet. There is a UPS store within a mile from my house, but I have never been there.

Seller screwed up and needs to make it right.

I always print my own shipping labels at home, and just drop it off at the local UPS store or take it to the USPS. The UPS Store just puts it in a stack that gets picked up around 5PM local time M-F. so I usually go in around 4-4:30 or so. No issues yet, this way they don't get involved in the cost to ship so they can't do anything to my shipping, AFAIK.

This is 100% bull shit man, even when we had a problem with UPS fucking up you took care of it your self for me, your great to deal with and are always stand up when something goes wrong...

It sounds to me honestly like the store owner too advantage of the seller, no one in their right mind even with someone elses money would spend $400+ on shipping, especially on an item that wasn't urgent and only cost $500 to begin with.

I think it was woefully irresponsible of the seller to do this with out asking how much it would cost, and he should have known it was B.S. when the guy said were out of "ground" labels, that's the biggest bunch of shit I have ever heard.

I'd call UPS get a high level manager, and raise hell, this is total B.S., first off they should have been able to put a stop on the order since it's something you did NOT authorize, 2nd off they should be held responsible for not having "ground" labels, and 3rd off they need to know what kind of a scam this store is running.

The guy who shipped it, should be held secondarily accountable, assuming you can't get the money from Fedex he at least owes you the difference from normal shipping. He got your money for the cab, he has the cash, he can make things right if he wants to continue to use the privilege of this board.

Sorry to hear of this..
I woukd have taken the cab back home and contacted you asap . I never would have surprised the buyer with that kind of shipping charge . That is just wrong..

Let us know who this douchebag is. Right off the bat, for him to assume $40 for 2nd day air, well he's a fucking idiot. This cab weights around 75lbs!!!!!! And if the store was out of ground labels, GO TO ANOTHER STORE! Or print it off the website. What an asshole. Sorry, but i just dealt with a scamming prickhead for the past few weeks so i have little tolerance for these morons.

And UPS wouldn't just take advantage of the shipping unless maybe the guy opened his mouth up. If he's in the store saying, " well I'm not paying for the shipping so i don't care" well then UPS might take advantage.

And 197lbs!!!! That's Bullshit. That cab weights 75lbs. What did they do, encase it in cement or ship in an enclosed metal safe!!!!

Even if UPS did take advantage, the seller is an idiot for letting them do so and it should come out of his pocket. And I'd like to know who this moron is to avoid them at all costs.

Well not sure what the UPS dude told the guy, but if he told him it will be around 40$ more and it is suddenly 400$ more, then there is at least a partial fault with UPS.

But I do agree that from all people involved, you should be the last to take the damage.

+1. I got a Wizard 4x12 cab from US all the way to Norway for $375.

what a fucking shit bag! while this story is just another in a long line of ludicrous adventures in buying and selling gear that can happen to any one of us, it's really not that surprising. just take a look at your local craigslist "Musician Wanted" category and try to wade through the cesspool of brainless, illiterate, whitetrash fucktards who post ads there. sure, tons of those guys can play rings around me (i guess something had to go right for them), but at least I can wipe my own ass and make my way to work each morning.

most musician "types" are jerkoffs, plain and simple. what a shit thing to happen to a stand-up guy and the owner of the forum, no less. WTF is this guy thinking?!?

What a moron. Post his username so everyone knows never to do business with him again. I'd also ban him from here as well. I know people can be stupid, but nobody who posts on here and is buying Bogner gear could be dumb enough to think 2 day shipping on a huge guitar cabinet is going to be $40.

All parties are to blame. First, I don't think the seller had some back pocket scam concocted with the UPS store. They told him it would be $40 dollars to ship it the way they did and he took them at their word. He should've gotten that in writing, but how was he to know they weren't telling the truth? It's a bit naive, but it doesn't sound intentional. It's definitely not cool to say it's not his problem though. The blame lies with the UPS clerk who either took advantage of the seller or simply wasn't paying attention to the transaction or didn't care about it. I don't think it was wise on the part of the buyer to give out account information like that either.

Either way he was wrong regardless, even if he did think it was only going to be $40 more. I honestly can't believe that 99% of people on this board would say (for example) $500 shipped and then get there and use 2 day shipping on another member's account, even if they though it was only $40 more, because essentially you're saying "fuck it, it's not my money, I already have the buyers money, I don't care". There's no doubt that in my mind that he wouldn't overcharge himself an extra $40. Regardless of what anyone else says I find it extremely hard to justify because it's a direct result the seller's own lack of intelligence and courtesy.

:banhim: :banhim: :banhim:

His fault %100
can't you reverse the charges on your credit card?

Hate to say it, but I'm betting he and a UPS store employee are running a bit of a scam here. What are the odds that a UPS store is out of ground labels? Really?!
That sucks Brad, and the other guy is totally in the wrong here. Sorry to hear this happened.

Exactly. Hell, the store employee can print one from the UPS website (as anyone could). Out the seller and flame him. Absolutely uncool of him. You were completely within your realm to be pissed off. How did he get the ability to upgrade the shipping from Ground to 2nd Day? I would be pissed at the UPS Store too.

Seriously, out him here. I want to know so I can steer clear of his sales in the classifieds.

If I give someone a shipping quote.....for example....I charged $30.00 to ship a combo and it came out to $60.00 to ship it.
I ate the other $30 since that is what I quoted and stand by my word.
I think that the guy had an obligation to contact Brad about this since we werent talking a FEW BUCKS difference. :gethim:
