I've been thinking that its time for me to get into shape and Ive decided to work out..... Yet again and the plan is to drop my Bodyfat down to the single digits by January.
With that said I have also decided to start Practicing the guitar in hopes of better my playing. My playing absolutely blows IMHO and it's time to correct it.

The difference now is that Im fully prepared to do what I say instead of just saying it and letting go by the wayside

I hope all is well with everyone and chime in if you've got some goals!!

Sorry bro, I couldn't resist. With ya on the playing, not with ya on the dieting. I will try and exercise say maybe 3 times before NAMM, but i'm not making any promises. :hys:

Ah the annual pre NAMM fitness kick!!!!

:hys: :hys: :hys: :hys:

I agree with Joe when he stated that during the Fortin fest you have upped the insanity level of your playing, it shows that you have had a direction due to the new band.

LOL :D

Well let the truth be told that I more then likely will not be going to NAMM this year.

Thank for the kind words but my playing is not even in contention of being good IMHO. I've realized just how much further I should be and there is no one to blame but myself
I want to head in the direction of John P's buddy that he posted yesterday

I'm in the same boat in the same two categories.  When I was 30 I was in the best shape of my life... physically and for playing guitar. I went from under 150 (which is too light and underweight for me) to about 195 in just a few years. I got lazy playing-wise too.

I've lost about 15 pounds by riding my bike and swinging a bat (I decided to start playing baseball again. Too late for this season, but I've been going to the cage and taking 200-300 swings a week) and making a point to schedule time to play no matter what.

So what time should Keith and I show up at your house to kick your ass?

AWESOME that you lost weight!

I went from 185 to 217 in just a few years. Im back down to 193 but I want to be 185 ripped to shreds. After I get to 185 I'll either add muscle and go up in weight or just stay there. 185 ripped looks a hell of a lot bigger the 217 fat :hys:

My playing still sucks ass, so I need to fix it to a lesser form of suckage :D

Same here, I am on a huge money saving movement right now due to crazy reorgs at work and I am shooting on taking the family to Atlantis next year so NAMM is not going to happen again.

That said I really want to go back to Terry for some lessons, he really knows the right things to do to get things working and for me the shear fear of sitting across from that monster makes one practice your shit

Keith has already expressed his feelings about me not going to some mutual friends lol

Id be there if I could but I have bigger fish to fry right now with $$$ issues!

I would have never stopped going to Terry had I had the money but it almost cost me $100 a trip after tolls, gas and the lesson fee. If Terry lived local to me, I would still be taking lessons. The great thing is that Im such a slacker that I can go over the lessons he gave me and still have shit to work on :hys:

hopefully ill be able to GAIN some weight before jan lol. im 21 and WAY below the healthy range. ive always been active, and im just tall and have an athletic build.

due to stress, school, work issues, ive lost alot of weight. ive been steadily improving on my playing though. taking routes i normally never ventured, and disecting alot of theory from books i have purchased.

hopefully ill be able to make it out to some of these jams sometime

Well said. A lesser degree of suckage would suit me just fine.

Well the great thing is that you are in luck... because if you have an athletic build but just need to gain weight, it's actually easy to do but it will requires you to eat a lot. Most people who fit your description think that they eat a lot but when they add up all there calories, it doesn't add up to much.

A while back I had a guy here at work tell me that he couldn't gain weight at all and I told him Bullshit. He was 130lbs at 6% bodyfat. I made him a bet that I could get him to gain weight and I had him eat 5 to 6 times a day and lift weights 3 times a week. I had him eat 15-16 times his bodyweight in calories for 10-12 months. Guess what? He is now 190 at 7% bodyfat
He looks killer! You can do it ;)

I work so damn much now i hardly have time to play other then testing things out. I need to lose about 30 to get to my good old days physique. I am not seeing much hope of either changing at the moment :aww:

Good for you man, make some goals, stick to it!!!

I have to count calories down to the nano-number to lose weight. I put on weight in my f*cking ass and legs like a damn chick. I look at a donut and gain weight.

A sweet, delicious, glazed delightful donut.... mmmm... doooooonuuuuuuts.... wait, what was I saying...

Oh, right... I'm conviced I have the metabolism of a tree sloth. Mind you, I'm not that big. 5'9" and 164 right now. Trying to get down to 160. But if I don't watch what i eat, I'll be at 175 in no time.

For me, Diet is everything. I try not to be too restrictive, but make sure that the ratio of protein to carbs is right. Drink tons of water. Taper off cabs at the end of the day. Some grilled chicken tacos with fresh salsa, delicioius and low fat, high protein. Pizza and pasta just don't work for me. Neither does General Tsos chinese food. Neither does bowlfuls of cereal before bed. If I'm going out to dinner, or fast food, skip the starch.

Good luck to ya, Ralph. Losing weight is very hard to do, but with dedication you'll pull it off. I'd like to lose 25lbs myself.

I am with ya for sure in the playing dept. Every time I get home from tour I have to play for a week before my chops are even close to where they were when I can play all the time. As a guitar tech, I don't get to play a whole lot and taking guitars to hotels and keeping one on the bus is a total PITA.
