I saw Sabbath at their last show in Southern California in 2016 and he sounded pretty good, and he was old old af already. He’s always been a little pitchy and gotten worn down as the show progresses though. But yeah obviously dvds are edited to hell

Yeah man. I've seen Ozzy solo about 5 times, Sabbath twice with Ozzy, Heaven and Hell, and my first concert ever was Tony Martin era Sabbath with Motorhead in...maybe 93? Motorhead was so loud that I almost passed out in the pit. Well, the beer and weed combined with the heat and volume was insane.

He and MANY others are known for redoing those vocals in the studio for their " live" studio releases. Listen to all the bootlegs to know how he sounded night to night.

Looks like 2002 ushered in the " new" Zakk as well. Still playing cleanly here but all over the squealy harmonics unnecessarily. I remember catching one of the shows in the early 2000's...Zakk overdid it so much I think i left at the encore's because i couldn't take a long ass squealie version of War Pigs.

This was Zakk's first full tour with Ozzy since 1992. Between November 15 1992 and October 31 2001 he'd only played a handful of dates with Ozzy in 1998, filling in for Joe Holmes on a tour of Oceania. So this was the big comeback for Zakk, and in the interim he had started BLS and was now a frontman in his own right. The dynamic was very different. August 9 2008 was his last show of his second tenure.

I'll admit I prefer the overall vibe of Live and Loud to Budokan. However the sound on Budokan is definitely more clear. To me, Live and Loud is more like a show that I would have wanted to be at. And Ozzy sounds way better IMO on Live and Loud. But I love Tribute as well, despite the obviously overdubbed vocals. He overdubbed them, I don't care, it fucking rocks.
