Damn, sounds tight and crunchy. The clean seems killer man!!!!!!

Now my GAS has skyrocketed!!!!!!

Just called my local Canadian music store, $3000 can dollars for it!!!!!!! Fuck.

I am glad this cat did an "in the room" playthrough. Gives more of an idea how the cab sounds. It's pretty chimey...with the v30/h creamback. Was gonna get just the cab...not sure if I'm into it.

I think i'll wait for a clip with it in-front mic and a decent sounding environment.

sound wise, sounds like a 5150 and a XXX being played together in phase. for that list price.. in CDN... I wouldn't be looking at this amp with any serious interest.

and as i'm getting older and gray, i'm starting to dislike v30's more and more. amp sounds like it wants Ev's or G12-65s, atleast to my ears

I agree with this a bit. I threw in a Mesa 8ohm v30 in my EVH combo and took it out after 20minutes. Only sounded decent if I scooped. I haven't found anything better to my ear than 8ohm g12m in series. Which makes it hard when I want a 2x12 cab to pair with my stealth.

Shit man, even with the camera mic that sounded good. What a great sound. The programmable footswitch is a nice bonus. I'd love to hear it if you get around to recording a mic'd track.

I don't think he recorded this, was this cat on YouTube!!!!

But i am with you on this, what great sound, suoer crunchy and a nice tight bass response. Me like this a lot.

And that footswitch, damn versatile amp.

I need to get one

Yeah, it wasn't me. I asked him and his friend works for Peavey and wanted him to demo it

Yup, the G12m's make sense with the Stealth, it seams like Eddie was so dead set on greenbacks they had to push 7.3k hz so much to give the amp edge, any speakers that don't have a dip at 7.3k like the Heri g12m and to a lesser extent bog standard G12m, it can sound a little fizzy without scooping and not being heard.

atleast, IMHO. my g12-65 sound great with the trebles and presence @ 9o'clock LOL (15ohm drivers in parallel on an 8 ohm tap)

When peavey said it's based on 5150 I was like YES!
I now think they must have been on shrooms...

I do not hear anything 5150ish in it, it's totally lacking in growl, that massive broad character and that low mid response the old one had. If anything this sounds a lot more sterile and almost digital (?!)
Peavey infected. and for that price.. LOL good luck

I guess it was a good review to see what other styles can be played with the amp, but I'll wait til the reviews come out with it proper mic'd and with someone who plays the type of music it was primarily intended for. Because as it sounds right there.. not much different then any other high gain amp.

I love all iterations of the Peavey 5150/6505/6534... that said, I hear nothing here that say's, "I gotta have that!!!" None of the videos to date have had any gas-inducing effects. Not that I need another amp, but I'd have to be in the room with one to really know if the tone is worth the price tag.

I think it sounds great but as long as I can pick up a NOS/clean 6505+ on CL for $600 - $700 I really can't find a reason to spend $1,900. :aww:

not that it matters much but are these actually built in the usa or just designed here?

Pretty much what I'm saying/thinking. I have a 1st year 6505+ in my stable, no need to look beyond it given price, reliability and tone.

According to the Sweetwater video I watched about the amp, it's made in the USA.

I got an old 5150. And a Cameron mod 6505. Both sound great.
This amp sounds different (at least to me from the clips)
Like to take one for a test spin. :D
