Peavey ultra plus for 300 or 3 channel dual rectifier for 700 which is the better deal?
I am just looking to start a second rig for gigging since the Rev F is more for studio use and gigging in bars the 3 channel is tried and true. But the ultra seems sweet lots of good reviews but its as old or older then my Rev F and the one I found is 3 hours away the 3 channel is an hour. Doing Metallica Alice N Chains covers mostly and originals some Drowning Pool Rise against Godsmack and green day.

Thoughts opinions please share

Now that I got that out of the way, 3 channel recto since the bands you posted have used rectos (2 channels though) on their records.

Dual rec all day... I also have a revision f dual rec, cool amp.

The ultra + is an awesome amp and a super value at 300. It is a bit Mark-ish. I had one and stupidly flipped it- it was killer with an eq in the loop to give just a little scoop. A Dual Rec at 700 is also a steal, so I say get both.

How about asking yourself this:

Peavey XXX or Dual Rec? If you don't like the XXX, you won't like the Ultra +

You're a Mesa guy. Get the Rec. I always look for a number 2 amp and think I can grab something different for a contrast...thing is, I always set it up to sound like a good Marshall. Because thats my favorite tone.....you'll end up getting something different only to try to dial it in like your favorite tone....Rectifier. So get the Mesa. I was looking at a Rectoverb and when I played it, I couldn't get the mids where I needed them. It was a steal for 500...but ultimately I would have flipped it for something more Marshally.
