I felt this deserved its' own thread instead of existing in the wastelands of batshit-crazy flame wars. Per is incredible. Anyone else have any fave Per vids/songs?

Scar Symmetry rules - his playing is sick and so damn fluid / smooth sounding. Live he sounds even better than on album which was crazy.

Yeah his phrasing is incredible too. Scar Symmetry doing a new album would be an excellent 2020 gift! Here's hoping on that one.

I really wonder what is happening with the new album at this point, they were recording it in 2017 and said it would be out that year but nothing ever happened, then at the end of 2018 they were "almost done tracking" and nothing ever happened

Oddly I have only really listened to Symmetric and Pitch Black... then I kind of forgot about them. I never even knew Per played with them. I just knew him from Meshuggah! LOL!

Love Per's playing... seems completely insane that the last Scar Symmetry release was in 2014.

Then again I think they sort of peaked with Holographic Universe...

It's because He uses Randall amps which in turn have been contaminated by Fortin's urine-infested touch.

Is this a damage control attempt? Lol
It is, that's why i told him to fuck off so we can start sanitazing this forum.

Per is awesome...I'd love a new scar symmetry album...people know I'm a fan cuz I have a big ass poster of Pitch Black Progress framed in the man cave. my favorite solo of his is "Dominion" off Symmetric in Design. Second is "Deviate from the Form" bonus track off Pitch Black Progress. Those two leads throughout are money to me.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I miss Christian singing though. The Unseen Empire and Singularity don't do really anything for me compared to their first 4 albums....and a lot of that has to do with vocals. Says something when it takes 2 guys singing/screaming/growling to replace just the one.

Last thing...wish they'd reissue on vinyl.

Yeah I can't believe it has been so long on that new SS album either. I thought I saw something last year about them.writing but that might have been just them teasing. I know Per is pretty busy with Meshuggah lately, and I am pleased my favorite guitarist is playing in one of my favorite bands, filling in for another favorite guitarist, but I could really use some new Scar Symmetry. Side note, I like Strandbergs but headless guitars are not really my thing. That being said, seriously considering that new Singularity model he is playing in this one.

I really like his playing. It’s different and original. Too many good songs, but I always loved the solo to prism and gate and limits to infinity. Morphogenisis is probably my favorite song. Lots of stuff going on it his sound and playing.

Singularity was supposed to be the first of a 3 album trilogy....it's been 6 years already since the 1st of the 3. Don't know if it's happening or not? A lot of good sweden/finland bands without new material....Pagan's mind is another...Been years and years. Cmon fuckers...an update would be nice.

Agreed
I was listening to the last one the other day and was trying to remember how long it had been. And how great that album was....
Poopee :(

Pagans mind is a great band. The guitar player is killer...and he simply uses a 5150II.

This must be what I saw. Back in late 2018. Could have sworn I saw one sooner!

Well, he plays in Meshuggah, so he already is playing Fortin.

I wish! That would be nuts. Can't imagine what that would be like though, with as many different directions as Per goes tonally. I mean, think about it, it would have to do proggy stuff, cleans, be a crazy palette of different higher gain tones, do low gain stuff for blues, etc. I bet it would look bigger than the Meathead.

That being said, it would be way too much for me as a player I would think, but I would still buy one. :D

That does sound like one hell of an amp.

Could be 3 channel -

Dedicated clean
Proggy
All out Death Metal/High gain

Channel 2 and 3 could have a gain cut for deh bluez. Even the Rig Talk attorney's would want one. Call it the Fortin Flarry - Instant classic. NAMM 2021!!! Do it.
