I wish Mesa would just get on with it and do the IIC+ reissue. For cryin out loud, theyd make a killin in profit(provided it is the real deal in every way).Instead they seem to be stuck in this "make more and more pedals, load boxes, etc" deal.I love what Mesa was and all they contributed to the scene over the years.I have quite a bit mesa gear, but never owned a IIC+.

If Mesa did a true Mark IIC+ Reissue they would want to do it right IMO. From what I have heard that's not possible since several of the components used in the original Mark IIC+'s are not available now. That's my guess why Mesa hasn't and probably won't do a true Mark IIC+ Reissue.

I think mike bendinelli explained it and it's about the original transformers and several little things here and there.

Petrucci has a nice recorded tone, but every video Ive ever seen with him sounds like a big muff running through a metal zone.

Yes but

a) He multi layers on the records, big difference and maybe he tries to overcompensate with more gain here,

b) Mesa demos sound more or less like you described. Maybe that damn room...

c) There is no c. I think petrucci also used a chorus upfront live sometimes to get this big sound open chord feeling he gets with more tracks on the record.

d) Mesa marks are THE pony for what they do but they don't do a lot unfortunately. I don't think they are tweakers amps at all, more or less you tweak to the point the circuit is in tune with your guitar pickups and playing and then the mark thing does its own thing. The reason I sold what I had is that its too much of a trademark sound (same as marshalls in my oppinion). It made play metallica theater and offspring all the time. Or santana! Even if I didn't want to ha ha.
