I’ve seen a Philipp live concert last year, it was genuinely amazing and got my face melted. TBH he didn’t needed tha rest of the band.
Such an underrated guitar player.
He’s underrated because nobody gives a fuck what he’s doing. He’s got shitty songs, his playing is generic, unoriginal. There are other guys that play that style much better. He’s been around over 30 fucking years and he still can’t fill up a 25 seat club. He should’ve got a regular job years ago like in Dunkin’ Donuts or McDonald’s

He seems to tour regularly. I think he was playing Antones a few weeks ago, pretty sure there was more than 25 people there but whatever. Who should I be listening to play that style? Honestly there are a few guys I can think of that play the same style who are doing about the same thing. Blues-rock isn't very popular right now for anyone not named Joe Bonamassa.

He’s been a bar band hack player for over 30 years. He’s a fucking bum. He changes his appearance every six months, like he’s reinventing himself. Give me a fucking break. He oughta change his goddamn guitar style. Maybe somebody might listen to him.

What blues-rock guy/band is worth listening to right now?

He seems like a really nice guy. Has been playing forever and has amazing chops and a great tone, albeit a very specific unoriginal tone. He plays those Fenders loud and clean, His ears must be ringing like mad after all these years.

But it bores me after the second song. Far too derivative and limited in tone and style to sustain any long interest. He's great, but it's just far too repetitive and SRV laden for me. I burnt myself out of SRV early on, but I'd still rather just put on SRV if I was gonna feel like listening to this style again. Sayce just doesn't seem to have anything original enough to say for me. And he's had plenty of time to do it over the last 30 years. I wish he did honestly because he has the skills, but it always feels like an amazing cosplay and nothing unique enough to hold my attention. No hate and I wish him the best, but I just can't listen to him for too long without tuning out.

The dude sure can play and I can hear the Hendrix and SRV influences (both of which I love)…but it’s very ‘bull in a china shop’ to me. It’s like he’s playing everything at Voodoo Child - Slight Return intensity. We need a little Wind Cries Mary element in there.
This is exactly what I got from this.

Yeah, the guy can play but he is not original whatsoever. Idk what it is, I guess I'm just a dick but copycat players really bother me to know end. This guy literally wishes he was Jimi. Yes everyone has influences but come up with your own stuff.

As much as I love SRV the whole blues movement that ensued just made it all practically unlistenable for me. Which kind of sucks because blues-based rock is embedded in my playing DNA. I used to be able to play blues but now I don't want to even go there.

Used to play the blues? What happened? You forget?

I literally spent decades learning Jimi/ Trower, and others. However, when I play I don't sound like them. I developed my own style (for better or worse) which is better than being a SRV parrot, just faster.

Sayce is like Walter Trout. They play everything they know before the first verse.
The guy has been around at least since the 90's. Nothing has changed, except he's a bit faster. It's all generic. He can't fill the small bars. He's got a few idiots worshipping him, but his tunes blow, it's too over-the-top, 100% of the time.

How many people are you dragging out to your gigs?

I was playing gigs when your dad was contemplating whether to shoot you into the toilet or not. Where were you in 1971? That's what I thought.
I played thru-out the 70s and 80s.
As I suspected, you ain't doing shit, just talking it.

Like I said, I did it already for a couple of decades, when it was actually fun to do gigs.

Also dip shit, that was my fucking opinion. Where were you and Sayce in '87? LOL

Carl’s a shit talking legend to be sure, but unlike most, he can back it up
Well, I wasn't talking shit, it was just an opinion. I been at it since 1971, so if some dipshit wants to challenge me, go ahead.
Where were they gigging in '87? LOL Listen to that live solo. Total Jimi without being a parrot.

So you're bagging on a dude who did the exact same tired Hendrix covers you did? LOL, ok Carl.

Covers weren't so tired back then, genius. Where were you playing in '83? LOL
You did gigs 40 years ago now bash guys who play the same stuff as well as or better than you did?
