Dunlop Ultex 1.0's Used to use heavier (Gator Grip 2.0 etc) but don't like them for quick rhythms. The Ultex only suck when dropped, they are hard to see on the floor!

Been using the 1.5 Cool picks for a while now.

Which type? I see they make a few different kinds. Do they last longer than a dunlop, say? They seem to be quite a bit more pricey.

I found that the Cool picks do wear down quicker than a Jazz III, but they're bigger so you would probably get the same life out of it. I have some 1.2 and 1.5's, and they do make a larger more rounded pick as well. I really don't use them much anymore though.

I've been using Dunlop Gator Grip 2mm for years. I love that pick.

I'd take a razor and file the point a bit sharper.

I tried the Dunlop Jazz III and really liked the point and stiffness, but it's too small. It becomes uncomfortable after awhile and I'd worry about it slipping from my hand.

I've been using these lately and love them! Great thickness and that point is already there, I don't have to "modify" it at all.

Im using Planet Waves Delrin .98mm picks, the blue ones.

I would have just grabbed the Tortex, but these Planet Waves were cheaper and the exact same material.. so it was a no brainer

If you like the tortex but want them pointy try the sharps Full size torext pick just pointy like a jazz pick

Black Jazz IIIs.

I toyed with the Ultex Jazz IIIs but I find the attack a little dull and feel that they have a little too much drag on the strings, especially the wounds. I have a couple of red ones too but the tone difference seems negligible between the red and black, maybe the black is a little more defined?

Yes, I like Jazz IIIs.

I like the warmth and clarity of the red's the blacks sound thinner and dont add a thick low end to upper strings

Those 2 picks look interesting. Might need to order a few for test runs.

You're missing "other" as an option...

That is the most neglected part of my playing. FINGERPICKING!!! Just need to put the pick down for about a month and give my fingers a good workout.

They do wear down on the quick side but leave a really cool purple dust in between the pups I like the indent in the middle, during right wrist rhythm lessons I was throwing picks around everywhere so I bought 7-8 different picks and these I was able to hold.

Eric Johnson JAZZ III(old school plastic and rounded edges are killer) or the Ultex Jazz III. I really wish the Ultex did not dull the tone so much because it is by far my favorite pick in terms of playability.
