I love all this info....
I had my back turned on pickups for a long time.
Not going to "flip" pickups like amps or guitars.....
Just want the Best for METAL/Hardrock....
the info is GREATLY appreciated!! ;)

Dan

I have an old Ford that is a pain in the ass to keep running...

Oh wait, another person got tired of using EMGs?

There is a point in every metal players life, when they realize EMGs are not all that great. You start to think about why you started using them in the first place. Kirk Hammet? He is kinda a homo and Reb Beach says he sucks. James Hetfield? He has started acting like a pussy and still uses them. Zakk Wylde? He is too drunk to notice the difference.

So what do you do? You obviously need another pickup to push your amp that is already a maxed out gain machine. Only pussies like pickups with alnico magnets and/or sub 15k winds. You are in quite the dilemma my friend. I have heard enough good things about the suhr aldrich set to give those a shot if I was looking for high output. Old super distortions have a cool raw sound to them. Duncan Distortions and JBs are great with the right guitar. Heck, you could even put some PAF style pickups in and hope that nobody reads the resistance on them and finds out that you are playing a lame old person pickup.

Dan, you may enjoy the Dimarzio D-activators. They have tons of punch and clarity. Super kick ass for hard rock/metal! Try the ones with the rails. The standard pole-piece pups sounded a little softer or mushier or something.

I saw a couple of Motor city pickups here on the classifieds for a good price.
I am not really into pickups.
Too hard for me to get them installed. I have to $$$ for that.

Well they are cheaper than amps.

I like the JB myself. It has been 15 years since I have used EMG humbuckers in a guitar. I still have a 81 and 89 around here some place.

Me too!

Is the Nuke anything like the Solution? I owned one of those and really liked it but ended up liking the Warpig just a tad better. What I love about the Warpig A5 is how thick it is. Everything is there but nothing is overpowering. Bass, mids, treble are all nicely balanced with lots of output. The Solution was a little scooped, and the low end was not as tight as the Warpig. I still liked it though.

The nuke fits the description you have there. Considering they are the same DC resistance Im sure the warpig was an inspiration for the nuke.

It is thicker than the solution with lots of output. seems more lower mid focused than the solution. Full is a good word to describe it. I don't find any wacky EQ peaks either.

I honestly don't remember comparing the bass tightness, the Hell Baby I have is the tightest in bass of all of the MCP extremes though.

My nuke is sitting here uninstalled at the time being. I sold off some guitars and actually have more pickups than I need. Id be happy to let you borrow it for a few weeks if you'd like to give it a shot and maybe do a comparison for the forum and the other dudes here wondering about it. PM me.
