Pickups for ibanez prestige.

I have a paf 36th anniversary in the neck and a super distortion in the bridge of a strat. Great combo

Other than what style do I want to play, I would ask myself, what do I not like (or wish was different) with my current pickups?
Is the sound too bright? Too dark? Lacks Mid? etc.

This would probably help with suggestions!

The Dominion is a great neck pup and the Dominion bridge actually sounds really good in the neck position too. I believe they are like tweaked Breeds if I'm not mistaken.

Dimarzio Humbucker From Hell. I’ve had one paired with a bridge evolution in my Ibanez PGM301 for about 15 years. My favorite all time neck pickup for soloing.

Right now it has dimarzio/ibz pick ups in it. They will be be going into a different guitar. I have two prestiges with tz/AN and one cl/lq. I am looking for shreddy 80's rock on this one if that makes sense. I love the super distortion and that is going in the bridge for sure, hell or high water. I want smooth liquid leads with a little more bite than the others. One concern is keeping up with the super distortion as far as output goes, and a blend of liquid and bite for the neck leads.

I have a bunch of MIJ Jacksons with EMG's and Seymour Duncans, I want to cover EVERY base I can.

Breed neck is what you want. It will keep up with the output of the Super Distortion and give you awesome lead tones. It's got a lot of midrange but good definition for chord work. It's more versatile than just a great pickup for liquid leads, but if sweet liquid lead tone is what you're after, it will deliver.

I’d go PAF pro, Liquifire, or Breed.

Personally, I found the Breeds to be lifeless. I swapped them out of my universe for the Evolutions, which made a HUGE improvement to the sound.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I don't doubt that you got that perception. However, not only is my experience with the Breed is quite the opposite, its specs and all the decent audio clips of it suggest that it very much has its own unique character. "Lifeless" would not be a word I would associate with a Breed. I have installed several Breeds over the years. I even used a Breed neck in the bridge position of a dark sounding guitar and it brought that guitar to life.

You could always try swapping magnets too. Just simple things like going from polished A5 to roughcast or using A4 can make a world of difference. The Breed is one Dimarzio that is pretty responsive to various magnets.

You are correct, I was thinking about the Blaze pickups, those were dog shit.

I have a Tone Zone and Air Norton combo in my 1570. I dig them but i wish i would have gotten something brighter for the bridge.

In that case then you're probably right. I think that's like a Steve's Special for 7-string guitars. The Steve's Special is a very cool pickup but doesn't work in some guitars. Your earlier description is what I found it to sound like in a Carvin I used to have. However, in a mahogany strat, it sounded awesome. It's like the Evolution (not EVO 2 which is better in my opinion) which is hit or miss.
