Just got an SG a couple of weeks ago in Pelham Blue. Replaced the '57 classics with an old set of SD Alnico II

No tuning issues. I use a leather strap, no neck dive.

Now it is one of my favorite guitars!

-$he's definitely a jealous bitch, play different guitar & it feels like a ukulele.
-(NECK DIVE)- I've never seen an SG that neck dives like a kamikaze, or one that can't be fixed, C'MON,.. Its an old excuse with a billion remedies. Here's some of the SG's I've owned with ZERO neck dive, SUPREME, DIABLO & 70's NORLIN's
-(Tuning Issue's)- another old NON-ISSUE, usually the nut.

What are you, an sg guy or something?

Vipers kind of sound like LPs. Big ol' hunk of mahogany there. Except with a typical ESP/LTD thin U neck and Xtra jumbo frets.

It's indeed a great guitar.

Been playing one live for the last 2 years or so. To be honest, i dont want to like it, im tired of it, but every time i pick it up its just great, it ALWAYS delivers, doesnt matter which style you are playing or what amp there is available.

I always considered the HSS Strat as the ultimate workhorse, but i have to say the SG is almost there.

Strats are the elusive guitar for me. I have tried since high school to bond with Strats and for the life of me I just can't do it over the longterm. I love Charvels and can do the strat type guitar but an actual Fender strat just falls short for my tone needs. Maybe I just haven't had the opportunity to have a top of the line Strat. I'm probably trying to fill a void with a cheaper version and then end up not digging it.

I can pick up almost any Gibson and bond with it for some reason. :)

I have been the same way with Strats. My favorite guitars are Superstrats (Charvel, Ibanez, Schecter, etc....), but can't do a typical Fender Strat.

Actually, one of my "I will do it one of these days...." goals has always been to build a Warmoth Strat with 24.75" Scale, Mahogany body, and HH Pickups.

I have been eyeing those Mexican Charvel San Dimas guitars. Every review I see, people just love them. They have a lot of great features like the neck (obviously), coil-tap, different settings, etc. I've seen people pulling off some great strat sounds with one. I'm really digging the transparent purple one but all of them look great!
