It's indeed a great guitar.
Been playing one live for the last 2 years or so. To be honest, i dont want to like it, im tired of it, but every time i pick it up its just great, it ALWAYS delivers, doesnt matter which style you are playing or what amp there is available.
I always considered the HSS Strat as the ultimate workhorse, but i have to say the SG is almost there.
Strats are the elusive guitar for me. I have tried since high school to bond with Strats and for the life of me I just can't do it over the longterm. I love Charvels and can do the strat type guitar but an actual Fender strat just falls short for my tone needs. Maybe I just haven't had the opportunity to have a top of the line Strat. I'm probably trying to fill a void with a cheaper version and then end up not digging it.
I can pick up almost any Gibson and bond with it for some reason.
I have been the same way with Strats. My favorite guitars are Superstrats (Charvel, Ibanez, Schecter, etc....), but can't do a typical Fender Strat.
Actually, one of my "I will do it one of these days...." goals has always been to build a Warmoth Strat with 24.75" Scale, Mahogany body, and HH Pickups.
