It's looking like I may need to unload some gear for some upcoming medical bills, including my H9 and H9 core, so. I'm looking at the HD500x to take the place of my existing board (minus the talkbox). I'll use it mainly for effects and also as a backup amp when needed. I used the XT Live years ago this way and from what I remember, it worked just fine without major issues. The amp is a Marshall JCM2000 DSL100.

Anyone using it in the way I stated above?

Well FWIW I had the HD500 for a while, although I used it as my only rig straight to FOH. This way it sounded decent enough. We did try it 4CM with our other guitarist's JCM900 and to be perfectly honest I didn't like the way it colored the amps core tone at all.

I may order one from Sweetwater and try it out...can always return it if I'm not liking it.

It was a tone sucker with my Engl Fireball 100. Ended up using a Boss ME 80 in the loop. The pod is ok in the loop but the 4cm sucked the front end. I added an od from the pod but it was still bad.
