to me the DR pure blues 10-52 work and sound best.

They stay in tune perfect, last quite long, and have a really nice feel and warm smooth tone. The pure nickel is said to have better magnetic properties than nickel plated steel and it definatly has a warmer tone which i love. It's supposed to wear your frets less to (nickel on nickel)

Only string i'll use on my electrics.

I've used Blue Steels for years. The only reason why is for some reason I never break them. They last 9-12 months for me under heavy, heavy use. I usually change them because I feel like they should be changed, not because they need changing. Every time I try another brand of string, love 'em or hate 'em, I break a string within 3 months.

OMG, I change my strings every week. They feel like crap after a weekend of giging. And even if I have a guitar I don't use, after a few weeks I think they feel like crap. Damn, 9 months. I must have some rancid hands.

I use D'Addario and Elixers. Just depends what I can get. I would rather get Snake Oil, but after paying twice and getting no strings in return, I gave up.

If anybodies one of those few guys who actually gets his SOS in a week, sell me some.

I used to be a Dean Markley guy all the way, but recently switched to Dunlop strings and i find they sound nearly the same but last a little bit longer before corroding. I have unbelievably bad acid sweat, and if i use Ernie Balls, they are completely black and corroded within 2hours.

I just started using 10-46 D'addarios on the LP Custom, so we'll see how they work out!

I got turned on to DR Tite Fits in the late 90's and that's all I use now. To me, they sound bigger, last longer (tonally and physically) than other uncoated strings, and feel better. The "feel" thing is tough to qualify...it's almost like they have this smoother/more "rubbery"/elastic feel to them. If you compare them to, say, D'Addario, you will definitely notice the difference.

I find DR strings to feel really stiff compared to slinky or D'Addario. DR claims they pack more material in their string and I attribute this to their 'stiff' feel that I notice.

I notice a good number of votes for slinky's. I have used those in the past and they barely last a week. They must not agree with the oil on my hands...

Can you get SIT strings in your neck of the woods? I thought SIT was kind of an Ohio thing and not too many people knew about them.

Actually no, never seen them. Thats why I put "except the SIT part". Up here in Canada the best tone comes from Walrus whiskers.
I 'll send you some. They are made in Ohio! What gauge do you use?

Walrus whiskers huh? Must be the canadian version of cat gut!  Do they use whale blubber high tech coatings too?? :)

D'Addario due to price and (relative) longevity compared to other strings.

I use:

D'Addario 11-49.
Bright and clear sounding, and never break on me.

I tried:

DR Tite Fits 11-50. Sounded great, but wouldn't stay in tune.
EB Power Slinky 11-48. These go dull sounding too fast for me.
S.I.T. 11-50. Have these on now. I like them, very bright and clear but they're stainless steel. I'm going to look for some nickel plated ones next.
GHS Boomers 10-52. Horribly dull sounding and just plain bad.
DM Blue Steels 11-50. Much like the GHS to me.

Thanks man :) 10 - 52 usually. (For D standard tuning).

Whale blubber is a good idea. If that runs out I use my own blubber

I am using Blue Steels mostly. Sometimes they are not avail or out of stock on my guage and I will go with D'Addario as a back up.

I must not hit too hard because I hear guys complaining of breaking strings and I rarely ever do. I do change them waaaaay before 9 months tho,...
