Well i hate mids so i cut the mids off my amp completely, Of course i play modern hard rock if that has anything to do with it. Mids are not friends
I also play modern hard rock.
1. Why do you hate mids?
2. Do you play in a band?
3. If yes, Do you play with a second guitarist?
4. If the answer to number 2 and 3 is yes, have you ever recorded a show or a practice? And can you hear yourself in the recording?
5. Do you like solid state tone? Because that is what you are making your tone sound like most of the time if you are using one of these things.
I used one of these in the effects loop of my Mesa for years and thought sounded awesome.
I finally got in a band and realized it SUCKED in the band mix. Another guitarist I played with used one as well and it caused his tone to sound harsh and you could absolutely not hear anything but hiss and noise when he played.
Another guitarist I now play with used to cut his mids way out and no one could hear him play anything. He then re eq'd his amp and it was a miracle! Everyone could hear him an everyone mentioned how much better the full band tone was.
It may not sound like mids are your friends, but the fact of the matter is in a band mix you better have them or you will not cut.
Almost every guitarist goes through these things at one point or another.
