Make sure you are not running 16 ohm's into your 8 ohm Mesa Rectifier cab.

Chawonkey: do you have either the sat, fat, or c45 switches engaged? Are you running full power as well? Also, what level do you run the master on?

Superunknown: I have that picture saved on my phone because I really need to get that headshell upgraded haha. I see your master is at like 7/8 o'clock? Do you find you're getting decent saturation/gain at that level?

If you guys have any bedroom level clips you could share, I'd really appreciate it. I just have not been able to get a nice saturated tone with the master below 9 o'clock on the BE input. If i run it on half power, gain dimed, sat switch engaged, into the HBE channel it starts to get a little thick and juicy. I'm starting to think I'm gonna need to get an attenuator for this guy, to push master up into the 10/11 o'clock territory.

Also waiting to receive my scumback cab, which will arrive tomorrow. Been playing through my rectifier cab with v30s up to now. Perhaps that will be the game changer.

I can get saturation at any level of volume with my BE. The new updates from Dave just take the amp over the top IMHO and VH switch really adds clarity and a tiny bit of gain to the BE which is perfect. I have tried all the speakers mentioned here and my favorites are the Scumback M75' & H75's in my Bogner Cab. Sounds really really good...

sjk: I played it with both the sat switch on and off, and i felt that there was too much gain without the sat switch on that particluar BE-100. Now the guitar I was using was an anderson (tele style body shape), but I wish i would have taken down the name of the pickups (perhaps they were just really hot pickups).

also, no country music here hahahaa, my aim for this amp is to solely get as close to the evh tone as possible. my favorite amp is my Mark V, but I am not trying to compare the BE-100 to the 3rd channel of the Mark V. Im trying to compare the BE-100 sound to the sound I am able to get on the 2nd channel in the crunch mode on my Mark V. Fully understand they're completely different amps running on different tubes, but this will answer your question on what amp I am coming from. Certainly appreciate your point/opinion on running the be channel without the sat switch. The outcome of my conversation next weekend could very well be that I just need to readjust my expectations. :)

Greg: Your original post about GC Nashville carrying the BE-100 is why I went there!! I actually did mention to Dave yesterday that I tried a stock BE-100 at the nashville guitar center and was just blown away. I unfortunately don't remember the guys name (was in TN for holidays/family stuff so things get jumbled together) but I think I spoke with the guy you're talking about. Remember him having long blonde hair for sure. He set me up through the Bogner cab which is supposed to be identical to the Friedman Cab. I ended up getting the amp and scumback cab (m75s) through Brad. Also the rectifier cab was running at 8ohms as well, I had to double check myself the first night when I tried it

Superunknown: Thanks for the feedback dude, might have to look into the VH switch for my amp as well. also, can't get over how awesome that new body looks.

Also, overall I just want to say (as sjk mentioned) that its hard to judge whats "an insane amount of gain" for one person versus another, but I really appreciate everyone chiming in!

Unforunately sounds like something is up with your amp. Keep us updated.
Never know it could be the cab IDK.
I did not care for v30's at all with this amp.
I'm using greenback reissues in a splawn straight 4x12.

Can ppl with a newly modded KS also post in here? ;) Dave told me mine was close to a BE-100 haha.

I know the Tom Anderson Tele's Tony stocks there ..He's been ordering some with H2's and I believe HN2's, Their not really hot pickups. But a very cool vibe in a Anderson Short Tele with alot of grit and spank. I'm thinking Scumbacks myself and the mods Todd (Superunknown) got...Not the headshell though (which looks awesome). Me and Todd both will be in Cali for NAMM and the Amp Show. I'm happy you bought the Amp from Brad. He's a great guy. That Tennesee sales tax is 9.25 %! That alone saved you some dough on that end. I guess I helped with a indirect sale..haha and cool.

Thanks so much for the pickup info, I was gonna try and call the store at some point to get it. It doesn't mean much without clips, but my Scumback Cab sounds amazing.

Also, i certainly would not have bought the amp had I not been able to try it out in TN, so actually you mentioning there was one at the Nashville GC is pretty much the reason I actually bought one :D

Awesome on the Scumbacks working for you  Very cool, you made the purchase from Brad within the RT community

I run BE with everything at 12:00 and controll the volume with the loop master. Gain does vary from 12:00 to dimed but I run as little gain as I have to. Seems there may be an issue with yours'.

Just got home from trip to LA to get my BE-100 checked out by Dave. In short, the amp was perfectly fine, Dave and Mark explained a few things and it all made sense. Ended up ordering a pair of Motor City T-Wrecks per their advice and am really looking forward to getting the pickups into my LP.

Most importantly, I cannot stress how nice Dave and Mark are in person. They took a lot of time out of a busy Saturday to sit with me (not a touring musician or professional player) and check things out. Completely blown away by their hospitality and friendly nature. If anyone has any doubts about doing business with these guys, please think again...really really hard.

Awesome!! :) That amp just couldnt have failed... im really wondering what it was you heard?

It was definitely the pickups, I played through marks amp with his guitar, with Dave's guitar and my guitar that I took with me. That Anderson tele had some of the hotter pickups which just made the BE channel have a really thick saturated tone.

Another thing I learned from Dave and mark is that Phil x hits the strings really hard. In the demo video the gain is at 3 o clock and he makes it sound like the gain is dimed. Just goes to show how sensitive this amp is to attack.

Noobish question I suppose, but is it necessary with a 16ohm cab to use the 8ohm spkr output when you're running the BE100 in half-power mode?

Yes, it's recommended.
