Cool article.

All that goop.

This going to sound naive but is there any reason to goop a circuit board other than to conceal what was used? I don't believe there would be a sonic improvement, I'm just interested in knowing if it prevents things from moving if things are poorly soldered.

I have to ad that I love what he does for his friend. Bill sounds like a wicked nice guy.

I agree, man. He does sound wicked cool. I don't know about all that goopy stuff... as far as I know it's meant to conceal, but also helps keep things in place/protected.

I love that cheeky text on the KTR pedal too

I owned a low # horsey centaur years ago and just didn't get the hype. Don't get me wrong, it sounded good, but I decided to dump it after I picked a Keeley modded Blues Driver which sounded better to me. The best thing about the Centaur for me was that I picked a used one up for $175 and sold it a year later for $800.

Damn!

That's a stroke of luck there.

I almost wonder if modern pedals such as the Strymon stuff (if out of production) would reach similar costs in the used market.

I was on TGP tonight and there's a KTR going for 460 (give or take) in the classifieds.

460$ is pretty cheap for one of those these days...

I really have no knowledge of it. Bill made it sound in his interview that they're cheaper alternatives.

I don't think they're worth that much money based on parts and build quality
The price is just a market thing, because people are willing to pay that kind of money
People will argue that it sounds the same, but yet it's not the same, so basically it's a Klone (which isn't one) of the Centaur, only fetching big money

Edit: If this had been on TGP, we would probably be at 2 pages of comments
