Problem with the amp

Hey everyone. I have a problem with my Engl Ironball 20w head. When I play with it the volume starts to jump, it gets quiet and then suddenly louder. Also when I roll off the volume on the guitar you can hear the same thing happening with the hum from the cabinet. I'm not sure but it's possible that this happened when I really cranked master volume using two notes torpedo captor as an attenuator. I have played with my other amps through the same cabinet since and they work without any problems. Can it be tubes or something else? I would appreciate some good insight, thanks.

Eliminate everything from your chain accept a cable straight into the guitar and amp and a speaker cable out to your cab. If it stops doing it you know it's not the amp. If not fixed, clean all your jacks with no residue contact cleaner and blow out with canned air. If it still does it replace your pretubes first. If not fixed by replacing pretubes, replace power tubes. If not fixed after the above see a tech.

Thanks, seems like could be anything. I just doubt about cables, other amps work properly, but i'll try.

I think I'll bring it to tech, it will be the best option since I'm a noob when it comes to technical stuff.

So it still has the issue straight in with no attenuator or anything else connected accept guitar and cab?

I just tried with the cable straight to the amp and no issues. Also today I didn't have any issues even with my pedalboard connected and then with two notes torpedo captor. Maybe amp reacts like that when I use too much master volume with attenuator? I'll check on it again tomorrow, now it's too late to play, but I'll let you know.

Sounds like it hates the attenuator you are using. I figured this was your issue.

Have you tried rebooting it? :D

I think problem is attenuator, maybe it doesn't work with this amp somehow when it's too much master volume, but wothout it it's working. I just gigged with it at the wedding :D it worked fine.
