I went with a Knaggs Kenai over the PRS I love it still have my Lester though never gonna part with it! Probably going to get another Knaggs in the near future

Interesting. I too have been in discussions with the N. American Knaggs rep. They're of interest as well.

Currently in negotiations with a seller to get this beauty:

Killer guitars build quality is amazing! Like PRS a lill pricey though! I'm going to pull the trigger on a tier 3 Knaggs Keya in white

I have had my PRS for a while, but have never truly bonded with it.

I bought one after playing a friend of mines (late nineties Custom 24), which was just mind blowing. I begged and begged but he wouldn't sell it for love nor money. So I ordered my own. Ca. 2008 Custom 24.

Not quite as good. There was something not quite right. It would go out of tune a lot, and the trem system didn't work as well. That has since been improved, but it's still not very inspiring to play.
A bit lifeless, and has this 'plink' somewhere in the spectrum (in the attack).
I am trying to sell it, but something keeps me holding on to it.

I would definitely recommend trying out a bunch first and then buying the exact one that turns you on.

I made the switch to PRS guitars - from Gibson - when I first played my wife's 1988 PRS standard back in 1990..I saved up and bought a new 1999 PRS custom 24 and have had it ever since!..Now after 15+ years as my top quality instrument, I actually found a better quality guitar. Mayones Regius 7. Definitely a higher quality axe all the way around. That being said, I am keeping my PRS ;)

Ive never purchased a Les Paul, but I have 6 (real) PRS guitars - Custom 24 / CE24 / CE22. Love them!

Great feedback on this...

Will check out the Mayones for shitz'n'giggles

a) Why "switch"?
b) If you want upper fret access in a Gibson, get a LP junior double-cut, SG, V or Explorer.
c) As for consistency of quality, I've had some of my LPs for many years, and not one of them has ever changed! ;)

(a) Agreed, have both.

(b) None of those guitars will give you LP tones.

(c) Possibly right, but I think it's difficult to argue that modern Gibsons don't have consistency issues...

Great thing about PRS guitars is consistency. I've played a bunch and they are all the same. So if you can just find one to tinker with, you'll know whether you like the feel of them. I don't, but I've also never been able to bond with a Les Paul either (Strat guy).

In '04 I started using PRS and now I've switched back to Strats and Tele's
Love every thing about them just hated when they got dinged up

I say put some bird inlays on one of your Pauls. Haha. But seriously I have a CU24 and I love it. Threw a set of motor city AFWAYU pickups in it and like it even more but none of my Pauls are going anywhere. If the CU24 wasn't a funky one, of sparkle color it would already be gone.

For most of my life I either played a Les Paul, Jackson, or a Tele. I got into JEMs as well (still my favorite Floyded guitar). These days I play a PRS or a Tele more often than not. I love my Gibson B-Bender Les Paul Jr. but if PRS made one I'd probably switch :)

I had a PRS NF3 outfitted with a Floyd but I still like my white JEM a lot.

But nothing sounds or feels quite like a Les Paul so if that's exactly what you're after then you should just get a nice Gibson. Finding a nice Gibson is getting more difficult though. People have been complaining about Gibson quality for years. Until the last year or so the issues I saw were more along the lines of a crappy setup or some minor fit and finish issues. Now I'm seeing guitars that are going to need to be repaired to leave the showroom - binding separating, frets not seated, electronics not working, nuts cut poorly, etc.

Again, it's versatility. I am going to need 1 guitar for a while, and thought the PRS might be that 1 stone hitting 3 or 4 birds. Or at least grazing them LOL.

I'll see. Ya, Lesters to me are my idea of "home", those and ESP Horizons.

Peace Y'All,
Mojo

It will get quite close to a bunch of things. They are good guitars. Just gotta find the right one.

I don't know what the new configurations are... But my big mistake was not getting the 10 top.

Why not? Why be forced to play guitars from any one company?

NO thank you, for any of those. I can't stand playing any of those models

Go out to any GC and play through the Gibsons. For every 1 good one, there's 5 shit turds
