Why? I've never thought you were a hellraiser in there.

I don't mind it when I'm wrong and someone mentions it, he seems to have an almost unholy glee in not only proving folks wrong but making sure they look as stupid as possible in the process.

I hear that.
But man, when I see Jay's name appear on a thread, I know it's gonna be fun, informative, or most likely both. I love his pull no punches style, and he has the experience to back up everything he says. I'm sure he rubs lots of folks the wrong way, but I find him a hoot.

Alan from Carol Ann amps was his latest target of complete an utter condescending bullshit and Alan called him on it. Alan even gave his phone number to call him and discuss it.

Link?
I've read hundreds and hundreds of Jay's posts. He is ultra matter-of-fact, and definitely doesn't sugarcoat or coddle anyone. But 'condescending prick', I've never seen. He will pick apart the argument of someone who doesn't know wtf they're talking about, and seems to enjoy it, while the other guy rarely does. Still, that may make Jay 'infuriating' but not a prick.
YMMV.

One is 9.03 and the other is 10.0 using the same patch.
Yes it does... I noticed that the amp sims sound "brighter" but in a more musical and not so displeasing to my ears when using the presence settings above zero. The other thing that stood out was that the amps are a bit "louder" (maybe it was just my settings for the loudness) and a bit "wider" for lack of a better term. They seem to fill out spaces that weren't fill-in before. In other words... it sounded better.ejecta":3blrgt28 said:mortega76":3blrgt28 said:Here are the clips I was referring to... very short clip to illustrate the quick difference I heard initially with 10.0.

The 10 version does sound brighter.
Funnily enough around here Van Halen I is low gain...ejecta":3siykdw2 said:High gain tones honestly are harder to get a good idea if that is true or not. Low gain tones to me give me a better idea on the openness and pleasing top end. That's where every single modeler I've played including the Axe falls short. Low gain amps dont feel as compressed and soft as higher gain amps. The Axe makes every amp feel somewhat the same. That's why see guys who like high gain amps get along better with the Axe than guys who prefer lower gain.
