I know one of your mods (Jay Mitchell) banned me (without my three warnings I might add) from the FAS forum...

Why? I've never thought you were a hellraiser in there.

He must have been disagreeing from way below the horse Jay was riding on.

+1. Then again, I quit hanging out there so much, I didn't really want to be corrected on some minute point by Jay. I don't mind it when I'm wrong and someone mentions it, he seems to have an almost unholy glee in not only proving folks wrong but making sure they look as stupid as possible in the process.

Jocke!!! That's awesome that you're here too!!!

Even if I was "raising hell" over there... I never got my three warnings... that's what eats me up. Then I actually got an email stating the following (I wasn't going to post it but it's just blew my mind that they would even say this...):

You've been pushing the limits for the last couple months. Perhaps this time off will allow you to reflect on your behavior and upon your return you will appreciate the civility of our forum.

Then I replied:

"Perhaps the time off?"

Who the hell do you think you are? Not even my father talks to me like that...

As stated earlier... get off your high horse...

There was another response I sent that I won't get into but... here was their response:

"If a mod banned you he must have had a good reason. I can take your case up with the boss."

I've never heard anything since... I've even asked Cliff on this forum and still haven't heard a thing... there are definitely some great folks on the FAS forum.

Either way... it was only a 30 day ban... but man, I visited that site at least 20 times a day!

P.S. GITTarzann... is that you too? That's awesome!!!

I hear that.

But man, when I see Jay's name appear on a thread, I know it's gonna be fun, informative, or most likely both. I love his pull no punches style, and he has the experience to back up everything he says. I'm sure he rubs lots of folks the wrong way, but I find him a hoot.

Knowledge never gives you the permission nor does it make it OK to be a complete condescending prick. Never. Alan from Carol Ann amps was his latest target of complete an utter condescending bullshit and Alan called him on it. Alan even gave his phone number to call him and discuss it.

I love guys like Jay, they are a wealth of knowledge for the community... I too love "Jay's threads" because he's always looking to put someone in their "technical place"... and at the same time a learn a little something... emphasis on "a little something" because most of that stuff is way over my head. I've even defended Jay when he's gotten on his "high horse" a couple of times to the person he was "conversing" with.

I really don't know why Jay was so pumped up to ban me. I never got a warning or an explanation.

Either way 10.0 is an awesome update!

Link?

I've read hundreds and hundreds of Jay's posts. He is ultra matter-of-fact, and definitely doesn't sugarcoat or coddle anyone. But 'condescending prick', I've never seen. He will pick apart the argument of someone who doesn't know wtf they're talking about, and seems to enjoy it, while the other guy rarely does. Still, that may make Jay 'infuriating' but not a prick.

YMMV.

Here are the clips I was referring to... very short clip to illustrate the quick difference I heard initially with 10.0.

One is 9.03 and the other is 10.0 using the same patch.

The 10 version does sound brighter.

Yes it does... I noticed that the amp sims sound "brighter" but in a more musical and not so displeasing to my ears when using the presence settings above zero. The other thing that stood out was that the amps are a bit "louder" (maybe it was just my settings for the loudness) and a bit "wider" for lack of a better term. They seem to fill out spaces that weren't fill-in before. In other words... it sounded better. :D

High gain tones honestly are harder to get a good idea if that is true or not. Low gain tones to me give me a better idea on the openness and pleasing top end. That's where every single modeler I've played including the Axe falls short. Low gain amps dont feel as compressed and soft as higher gain amps. The Axe makes every amp feel somewhat the same. That's why see guys who like high gain amps get along better with the Axe than guys who prefer lower gain.

Am I the only one that when reading Jay's posts, I hear the voice of Sheldon from Big Bang Theory?
