The last well intentioned and semi-honest hard lefty I can think of was MN senator Paul Wellstone. He was the sole dissenter in the senate for the Iraq war and he died in a rather mysterious plane crash not too long after that. He was an MN institution and had been re-elected many times. Then his moron family turned it into a orange man bad session with then governor Jesse Ventura. Was truly despicable, a lot of people were pissed. They shit all over his legacy that, while very left, seemed to be honorable if somewhat misguided.
